JPB Foundation seeks to enhance the quality of life in the United States through transformational initiatives that promote the health of communities by creating opportunities for those living in poverty, enabling pioneering medical research, and enriching and sustaining our environment. The goal of the Environment program is to enable healthy and resilient communities through environmental sustainability, given the measurable impacts on the well-being of human and natural systems. The JPB Foundation has initially explored the energy system, with a focus on low-income housing and how retrofits of this housing stock can enable healthy and resilient communities.

Founded in 1991, the New York City Environmental Justice Alliance (NYC-EJA) is a non-profit, city-wide membership network linking grassroots organizations from low-income neighborhoods and communities of color in their struggle for environmental justice. NYC-EJA empowers its member organizations to advocate for improved environmental conditions and against inequitable environmental burdens by the coordination of campaigns designed to inform city and state policies. This Office leads the City's efforts to implement recommendations laid out in A Stronger, More Resilient New York and One New York: The Plan for a Strong and Just City. The plan builds on the foundations of public collaboration and rigorous analysis. ORR will guide the City's work to: strengthen coastal defenses, upgrade buildings, protect infrastructure and critical services, and make homes, businesses, and neighborhoods safer and more vibrant.

The Oakland Climate Action Coalition (OCAC) is a collaboration of more than 30 organizations striving to ensure that frontline communities benefit from efforts to address climate change in Oakland, California. Founded in 2009, OCAC has advanced its social equity and climate justice goals by engaging community-based organizations and impacted residents in climate action, adaptation, and resilience planning in Oakland. The coalition partnered with the City of Oakland to develop Oakland’s Energy and Climate Action Plan (ECAP), which was adopted in December 2012.

The mission of Oregon Solutions is to “develop sustainable solutions to community-based problems that support economic, environmental, and community objectives and are built through the collaborative efforts of businesses, government, and non-profit organizations. ” This statewide non-profit organization prioritizes some projects based on Governor approval, which benefit from state agency support in implementation. Many projects chosen address climate adaptation - focusing on such topics as water supply and conservation, maintaining healthy forests and corridors, and urban greening.
