The Community Resilience Toolkit 2.0 is a collection of online tools to help users understand local impacts of the climate and energy crisis in their region and what they can do about them. Created by Rooted in Resilience, the tools are designed for individuals, community and nonprofit groups, classrooms, businesses, and municipal planners. The toolkit is comprised of four different documents. Each of these outline activities, and step-by-step instructions.

In 2012, the California Legislature passed Senate Bill 535 for the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) directing that, in addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, a quarter of the proceeds from the GGRF must go to projects that provide a benefit to disadvantaged communities. Specifically, SB 535 requires that at least 25% of California’s GGRF go to projects that benefit disadvantaged communities, with at least 10% going to projects located within these communities.

This document presents a brief overview of current climate projections for increased temperature and extreme heat conditions for California, and addresses the human health impacts of increasing temperature in the state. In particular, it focuses on climate model projections of longer and more frequent extreme heat events. The report details the content of these projections for California, including an explanation of the urban heat island effect.

The World Bank produced this framework for conducting climate risk assessments to help cities plan for the impacts of climate change and natural disasters. The framework is intended for city decision makers, urban practitioners, and is fitting for use by public, private, and non-governmental entities. It is adaptable to cities of differing financial statuses, population size, hazard and institutional capacities.

Designed to inform the Adapting to Rising Tides project (ART) being led by the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission, the purpose of the white paper is to integrate social equity into adaptation planning for sea level rise and storm events. The report describes a social vulnerability assessment completed for the study area and the results; presents case studies which integrate equity into adaptation planning; and provides decision support tools and recommendations to inform social equity and coastal planning for the San Francisco Bay Area of California.

Louisiana's 2012 Coastal Master Plan, also titled 'Louisiana's Comprehensive Master Plan for a Sustainable Coast,' is a landmark 50-year, $50 billion blueprint for a sustainable coast. This plan, prepared by the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA), was passed unanimously by the Louisiana legislature in May 2012. While building off previous plans, the 2012 Coastal Master Plan is the most comprehensive to date, offering solutions to Louisiana’s coastal environmental and engineering challenges.

This report was prepared by the Washington Department of Ecology, offering recommendations on how existing state policies and programs can better prepare Washington State to respond to the impacts of climate change. This response strategy was built in collaboration with the state departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Fish and Wildlife, Health, Natural Resources, and Transportation - integrating the recommendations of the four advisory groups. It also utilizes the best available science on climate impacts from the Washington Climate Change Impacts Assessment, as well as Washington’s initial adaptation plan developed in 2008 under Executive Order 07-02.

This report from Climate Central analyzes how sea level rise caused by global warming is compounding the risk from storm surges throughout the coastal contiguous U.S. It is the first study to generate local and national estimates of the land, housing and population in vulnerable low-lying areas, and associate this information with flood risk timelines.
