AASHTO’s Resilient and Sustainable Transportation Systems Program
AASHTO's Sustainable Transportation: Energy, Infrastructure, and Climate Solutions Technical Assistance Program is designed to assist State Departments of Transportation in understanding the potential effects of climate change, and the range of strategies and options for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The Technical Assistance Program is a voluntary pooled-fund program that provides timely information, tools, and technical assistance to assist AASHTO members in meeting the challenges that arise related to climate change, energy efficiency, energy security, infrastructure adaptation, alternative vehicles and fuels, and other relevant topics. This program is a critical resource for State Departments of Transportation to be proactive on climate change and energy issues, while also providing the information state DOTs need to engage in and influence climate change and energy legislation at both the state and federal levels.
The AASHTO Sustainable Transportation: Energy, Infrastructure, and Climate Solutions Steering Committee acts as a focal point and coordinating body for AASHTO's various activities related to climate change, and provide oversight and guidance to the Technical Assistance Program.
The steering committee members are chosen to represent each of the four AASHTO regions and to provide linkages to other AASHTO standing committees, including the Committees on Environment, Planning, Highways, Rail Transportation, Aviation, Public Transportation, and the Center for Environmental Excellence.
