BCDC Adapting to Rising Tides: ART Portfolio
The Adapting to Rising Tides (ART) Program of the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) leads and supports multi-sector, cross-jurisdictional projects that build local and regional capacity in the San Francisco Bay Area of California to plan for and implement adaptation responses. ART offers an online ‘Portfolio’ to provide access to the planning guidance, tools, data and information for adaptation planning in the Bay Area - with a focus on resiliency of shoreline and community resources to sea level rise and coastal storm events, among other climate impacts. The goal of the Portfolio is to share the ART process and findings with local government and other partners around the Bay Area and beyond.
The ART Portfolio consists of:
Findings: Summarized outcomes and information from the ART project in Alameda County. These findings represent the ART Program’s current understanding for different sectors and issues related to adaptation planning.
The sectors described include: Airport, Community Land Use, Facilities and Services, Contaminated Lands, Energy, Pipelines and Telecommunications, Ground Transportation, Hazardous Materials, Natural Shorelines, Parks and Recreation, Seaport, Stormwater, Structural Shorelines and Wastewater
Projects: Synopses and the latest information and links to completed material for current and past regional, local, and sector-specific projects led or supported by the ART Program.
The local projects discussed are from four Bay area locations:
- Alameda County (ART Subregional Project)
- Contra Costa County ART Project
- Hayward Shoreline Resilience Study
- Oakland/Alameda Resilience Study
How-To: Detailed, step-by-step guidance and for using the “ART Approach” to adaptation planning. The ART approach was built on a traditional planning process framework - from scoping to implementation -that ART Program staff tested and refined to address the specific challenges of building climate resilience across different communities, assets and services, and jurisdictions and owners.
Help Desk: Support that connects users to knowledgeable ART Program staff who can assist them with understanding and using Portfolio content, and connect them with other relevant expertise and information.
