California Climate Adaptation Strategy - 2010 Progress Report
The 2009 Adaptation Strategy organized state agencies into seven resource-based sector working groups. Each working group identified preliminary adaptation strategies that could be implemented in the short term (by December 2010) and the longer term.
This report focuses on the progress made through October 2010 by the following seven sector working groups:
• Public Health
• Biodiversity and Habitat
• Oceans and Coastal Resources
• Water Management
• Transportation and Energy Infrastructure
Additionally, the California Natural Resources Agency coordinated the state adaptation strategy development and was responsible for overseeing the implementation of a number of cross-sector recommendations.
Progress updates for these activities are provided as well, including: the development and roll-out of the Cal-Adapt website to support local government adaptation efforts; amending California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) guidelines for development in areas sensitive to the effects of climate change; and participating in an assessment of sea-level rise risks to California, Oregon and Washington for years 2030, 2050, and 2100.
