Low Impact Development Manual for Coastal South Carolina

The Low Impact Development (LID) Manual for Coastal South Carolina project is supported by years of outreach and research led by the South Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserves (NERRS) and South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium. The project includes key leaders in the area that serve on the LID Manual Advisory Committee, and incorporates public trainings/meetings throughout the process. The final product will be a guidance document defined and vetted by end users.

City Heights, San Diego Urban Greening Plan

The neighborhood of City Heights is centrally located in the San Diego, California metropolitan area. This Urban Greening Plan establishes a system of Green Streets within City Heights based on surrounding land use, traffic intensity, and function of the streets. The plan provides recommendations on how to successfully implement and maintain these Green Streets, and how to improve and protect the public spaces and resources found in the community. It integrates urban forestry through enhancements to the public right-of-way that include a street tree plan and landscape treatments, as well as bicycle and pedestrian facility improvements to increase active transportation, reduce the urban heat island effect and promote a healthy environment.

The Climate Change in Colorado report is a synthesis of climate science relevant for management and planning for Colorado’s water resources. It focuses on observed climate trends, climate modeling, and projections of temperature, precipitation, snowpack, and streamflow. The 2014 report is a thorough revision and expansion of the 2008 report of the same name, also produced by the Western Water Assessment in partnership with the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB).

Designing with Water provides Boston-relevant case studies and innovative designs for city planners and developers to adapt to flooding and enhance urban resiliency. The report is the second in the Preparing for the Rising Tides series, which the TBHA first released in 2013, assessing the neighborhood-level sea level rise flooding risk to Boston.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Workbook for climate adaptation planning presents a risk management methodology with step-by-step guidance on building a climate change vulnerability assessment and adaptation action plan. The guidance provides decision-support tools for conducting vulnerability assessments at a watershed scale, and will help environmental managers to establish climate change adaptation priorities and strategies to prepare a risk-based adaptation plan.

This report summarizes a 2014 poll that assessed people of color's views on climate change. It finds that climate change is a high profile issue for communities of color. It also finds that voters of color see economic benefits to investing in the green economy and see addressing climate change as a moral obligation. The poll surveyed 800 registered African American, Latino, and Asian voters in the summer of 2014.

'Sea-Level Rise: A Slow-Moving Emergency' CA State Assembly Select Committee on Sea Level Rise and the California Economy report

The California State Assembly Select Committee on Sea Level Rise and the California Economy was established in 2013 to thoroughly review the challenges ahead in addressing the impacts of sea level rise on California. The Select Committee held four hearings featuring testimony from scientists and industry leaders about potential impacts from sea level rise to the state’s economy and infrastructure. Topics included projected impacts on coastal agriculture, the fishing and aquaculture industry, tourism, ports, roads and bridges, and water and power infrastructure.
