The Model Forest Policy Program's Climate Solutions University (CSU): Forest and Water Strategies is an on-line educational campus. CSU provides a framework to assist rural forested communities with on-the-ground solutions to the climate crisis. This 10-month educational program teaches local communities in resource rich areas to develop climate action plans relevant to local forest, water and economic issues.

NOAA Coastal Community Planning and Development (Training)
Offered by NOAA's Office for Coastal Management on the Digital Coast website, this training program covers planning processes, current coastal development patterns and trends, natural hazard resiliency, and alternatives to conventional patterns of growth and development. The 2-day course is designed for local elected officials, developers, land use planners, business leaders, floodplain managers, hazard mitigation planners, realtors, emergency managers, community groups, members of civic organizations, coastal resource managers, and concerned citizens.

Climate Change Health Preparedness in Oregon

This report describes the findings of a survey of Oregon public health workers regarding their current knowledge of, level of preparation for, and the resources and training they believe are needed to respond to the health risks associated with climate change. The report describes the present and future public health consequences of climate change, provides an analysis of surveys given to county public health departments in Oregon, and makes recommendations to improve the understanding and preparedness of public health workers for addressing the public health impacts of climate change.

Preparing for Climate Change: A Perspective from Local Public Health Officers in California

This report presents the results of a survey of California's local public health officers, conducted between August and October 2007. The survey assessed health officers' concerns about the public health impacts of climate change, their familiarity with programs currently in place that could help to mitigate these health effects, and their information and resource needs to better cope with a changing climate. .

Integrative Collaboration on Climate and Energy (ICCE)
Launched by Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in the spring of 2009, ICCE is a cross-university program creating relevant linkages across disciplines to advance basic and applied climate change research. With FAU as the lead institution, ICCE includes more than 80 faculty members in a multitude of climate change-related disciplines. Other University collaborators include University of South Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University, and Columbia University.

Global Change Research Program (USGCRP), "The Essential Principles of Climate Science" presents important introductory information about the Earth's climate, impacts of climate change, and approaches for adapting and mitigating change. This climate science literacy guide identifies the essential principles and fundamental concepts for individuals and communities to understand the Earth’s climate system. It intends to improve the ability to make informed decisions about activities that increase vulnerability to the impacts of climate change, and to take the steps to reduce those vulnerabilities.

Building Coast-Smart Communities
Building Coast-Smart Communities is a role play product developed by the state of Maryland and funded by NOAA. It was used by the state in a summit, attended by more than 170 mayors, county commissions, environmentalists, business leaders and Maryland state officials, to discuss the State's climate change adaptation options. The half day role play quickly introduces people to the challenges faced by coastal communities and the primary options for addressing them. As such, local government authorities, planning departments, chambers of commerce, civic groups and residents associations can conduct this role play in their communities.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Climate and Health Program
2009
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) climate and public health framework was established in 2006, and in 2009, CDC formally established its Climate and Health Program. The mission of the Program is to lead efforts to identify vulnerable populations to climate change; to prevent and adapt to current and anticipated health impacts; and to assure that systems are in place to detect and respond to current and emerging health threats.
