Since 1985, the Center for Clean Air Policy (CCAP) has been a recognized world leader in climate and air quality policy and is the only independent, nonprofit think tank working exclusively on those issues at the local, U. S. national and international levels. Headquartered in Washington, D. C. , CCAP helps policy-makers around the world develop, promote and implement innovative, market-based solutions to major climate, air quality and energy problems that balance both environmental and economic interests.

The Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) is the successor organization to the Pew Center on Global Climate Change. For the last decade, the Pew Center was a non-partisan leader in providing climate science, impacts, technological solutions, and policy analysis to address global climate change. Under the new name, and with additional funding sources from the private sector, C2ES continues the same work with a focus on clean energy solutions and climate change mitigation and adaptation.

CISA is a member of NOAA's Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program, which supports climate research for decision-makers and policy planners at a regional level. CISA is committed to improving the range, quality, relevance, and accessibility of climate information for decision-making and resource management in North and South Carolina. CISA's initial research focus areas included water supply and quality modeling, and have more recently turned to climate impacts on public health and coastal communities.

Cambridge Systematics is a for-profit company which provides policy and planning solutions, objective analysis, and technology applications, helping clients meet future transportation needs while improving the performance of existing infrastructure and operations. They provide a Transportation Climate Change Policy and Planning service and have used this service for extensive policy work with Federal and state agencies. This service integrates climate change considerations into agencies’ strategic policy development – addressing GHG mitigation as well as preparing for the effects of climate change.

Canyonlands Research Center
With The Nature Conservancy's Dugout Ranch at its core, the Canyonlands Research Center Study Area spans lands managed by the USDA Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and Canyonlands National Park, giving scientists the opportunity to study wide gradients of elevation, ecology and land-use histories. The Center is also situated along the boundary of the Southwestern monsoon climate zone, making it particularly sensitive to climatic variation. The Center will provide new information on how temperature, rainfall and land uses combine to affect the health of natural resources on the Colorado Plateau.

As evidenced by the resources included in the Adaptation Clearinghouse, CAP maintains a focus on equity in climate adaptation.

The Center for Climate Systems Research (CCSR) is a unit of the Earth Institute, Columbia University, and was established in 1994 for the purpose of enhancing the program of interdisciplinary Earth and Climate systems research both at Columbia and the NASA/Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS). The overriding objective of all projects conducted at CCSR is to provide an enhanced understanding of the Earth's climate sensitivity and variability, as well as the mechanisms that control them. The center focuses on aspects of the climate system that have the potential to impact human populations and environmental stability.
