The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (WA DNR) manages 5.6 million acres of forest, range, agricultural, aquatic, and commercial lands for the people of Washington. These lands generate more than $200 million a year, much of it to support public schools, state institutions, and county services. They also manage these lands to provide fish and wildlife habitat, clean and abundant water, and public access.

Western Resource Advocates (WRA)
Western Resource Advocates (WRA) is a non-profit environmental law and policy organization with offices in seven states: Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Idaho. WRA collaborates with conservation groups, hunters and fishermen, ranchers, American Indians, and others to: 1) advance clean energy to reduce pollution and global climate change, 2) promote urban water conservation and river restoration, 3) defend special public lands from energy development and unauthorized off-road vehicle travel, 4) reduce air and water pollution and harmful climate change, 5) protect habitat for threatened, endangered, and sensitive plant and animal species, 6) protect terrestrial, aquatic, and riparian ecosystems, 7) maintain the integrity of public lands, and 8) achieve environmentally sustainable management of energy, land, and water resources.

The Western States Federal Agency Support Team (WestFAST) is a collaboration between 12 Federal agencies with water management responsibilities in the West (Environmental Protection Agency, National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Land Management, , U. S. Geological Survey, U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U. S. Forest Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, U. S. Department of Defense, U. S. Dept. of Energy, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration).

Western States Water Council (WSWC)
The Western States Water Council is an organization consisting of representatives appointed by the governors of 18 western states. Since its creation, through adoption of a resolution at the Western Governors' Conference in 1965, the Council has striven to fulfill its chartered purposes. The purposes of the Council are: (1) to accomplish effective cooperation among western states in the conservation, development and management of water resources; (2) to maintain vital state prerogatives, while identifying ways to accommodate legitimate federal interests; (3) to provide a forum for the exchange of views, perspectives, and experiences among member states; and (4) to provide analysis of federal and state developments in order to assist member states in evaluating impacts of federal laws and programs and the effectiveness of state laws and policies.

Wetlands Watch
Wetlands Watch, based in Norfolk, VA, focuses on protecting wetlands statewide in Virginia. Wetlands Watch approaches this through both top-down approaches and grassroots activism. Related to climate adaptation, Wetlands Watch is working to implement adaptation strategies that address the risk of sea level rise to Virginia's coastal wetlands.
Wetlands Watch created a Sea-Level Rise Adaptation Guide to help Virginia municipalities prepare for the impacts of sea-level rise, along with offering other resources and tools.

Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts (WICCI)
The Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts (WICCI) is a collaboration of the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and other state agencies and institutions established to determine how climate change impacts will affect various state sectors and how to best adapt.

Wisconsin Sea Grant
Wisconsin Sea Grant is a statewide program of basic and applied research, education, and outreach and technology transfer dedicated to the stewardship and sustainable use of the nation's Great Lakes and ocean resources. The program's primary areas of focus are in aquaculture, aquatic invasive species, coastal engineering, marine and aquatic science education, fisheries, geographic information systems, habitat restoration, water quality and water safety. Research projects focused on climate change adaptation of coastal communities are being done on behalf of the Great Lakes Sea Grant Network, with funding from NOAA's Climate Program Office.
