It not only includes links to web pages, reports, and plans, but also examples of presentations that communities use to engage their citizens, what tools they used to identify their vulnerabilities, and who funded their projects.

Confusion Hill Bypass in Mendocino County, California
2009
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) completed the Confusion Hill Bypass project to reduce the vulnerability of Highway 101 in Northern California to landslides. Between 1996 and 2003, Caltrans spent a total of $14 million repairing and maintaining a 2-mile stretch of the highway. In the winter of 2002/2003, Highway 101 was closed 10 times due to landslides. Caltrans identified landslides and flooding as constant challenges in Caltrans District 1, which includes Confusion Hill in Mendocino County.

Local Solutions Report: Identifying and Meeting the Needs of Local Communities Adapting to Climate Change
October 2016
This report analyzes feedback from over 600 respondents from 48 states and 19 countries working on climate adaptation at the local level. The report makes the case that climate adaptation at the local level is vital, but that local practitioners need additional support. Data collected by Antioch University New England’s Center for Climate Preparedness and Community Resilience was used to the determine the issues that local communities face when adapting to climate change and offers recommendations to better meet those needs.

Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians Climate Change Program
The Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI) is a nonprofit organization representing 57 Northwest tribal governments from Oregon, Idaho, Washington, Southeast Alaska, Northern California and Western Montana. The ATNI Climate Change Program supports member Tribes with best practices to address and adapt to climate change, serving as a clearinghouse for, and coordinator of, tribal and intertribal efforts. ATNI prioritizes climate resilience strategies that protect tribal treaty rights and trust resources.

West Virginia Senate Bill 677 (2023) (Amending the State Resiliency and Flood Plan Protection Act)
May 1, 2023
West Virginia’s Senate Bill 677, enacted May 1, 2023, amended the State Resiliency and Flood Protection Planning Act, which was initially enacted in 2017 to expand the framework for flood resilience and disaster recovery. SB 677 created the West Virginia Flood Resiliency Trust Fund, affirmed that the State Resiliency Office is responsible for statewide coordination of disaster recovery and resiliency, and legislatively mandated new duties for the State Resiliency Officer.

Vulnerability and Climate Change in the U.S. Southeast
Oxfam America is funding programs in Louisiana and elsewhere in the Southeastern U.S. to help those most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change to adapt and be better prepared. The goal of this project is to bring a fuller understanding of social vulnerabilities due to climate change in the U.S. southeast region to the public through a multidisciplinary examination of risks, hazards, and disaster.

Preparing for a Changing Climate: Washington State's Integrated Climate Response Strategy
April 2012
This report was prepared by the Washington Department of Ecology, offering recommendations on how existing state policies and programs can better prepare Washington State to respond to the impacts of climate change. This response strategy was built in collaboration with the state departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Fish and Wildlife, Health, Natural Resources, and Transportation - integrating the recommendations of the four advisory groups. It also utilizes the best available science on climate impacts from the Washington Climate Change Impacts Assessment, as well as Washington’s initial adaptation plan developed in 2008 under Executive Order 07-02.

WHEJAC Recommendations
May 21, 2021
Executive Order 14008, Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad, established the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council (WHEJAC) in order to advise the White House Environmental Justice Interagency Council on “how to increase the Federal Government’s effort to address current and historic environmental injustice. ” WHEJAC’s final report gives a series of charge questions and recommendations relating to Justice40, the Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool, and Executive Order 12898 revisions.
