Midwestern Regional Climate Center

The Midwestern Regional Climate Center (MRCC) is one of six regional climate centers in the U. S. managed by NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). The MRCC is a cooperative program between NCDC and the Illinois State Water Survey - a division of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.   The MRCC serves the nine-state Midwest region (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin). MRCC research helps explain climate and its impacts on the Midwest, and provide practical solutions to specific climate problems.

The City's "Lead by Example Workplans" identify more than 470 actions the city could take to adapt to or mitigate climate change, and the city's climate action plan remains one of the best models in the country.

U.S. Forest Service Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center

The mission of the Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center (EFETAC) is an interdisciplinary resource that is actively developing new technology and tools to anticipate and respond to emerging eastern forest threats. EFETAC researchers work with other scientists nationally as well as with a variety of Federal, State, and local government agencies, universities, and non-governmental partners to address forest threats. EFETAC has many projects and collaborations related to climate change which can be accessed on their website.

Chicago Community Climate Action Toolkit

The Field Museum's Chicago Community Climate Action Toolkit includes over 60 multimedia tools to help communities develop and carry out local climate action projects that build on community strengths and improve quality of life. The tools available document the experiences of community partners, present the basics of climate science as they relate to the Chicago, Illinois region, and provide ideas for local climate action.
