California Drought Contingency Plan

January 15, 2016

The 2016 California Drought Contingency Plan (DCP), released by the Department of Water Resources, outlines potential Central Valley Project (CVP) and State Water Project (SWP) contractors water operations for February through November 2016. The DCP is a planning and implementation document that identifies strategies and actions state agencies should take to prepare for and respond to future droughts or other water shortage events. This state report demonstrates that conservation and preparedness will be essential to future water management in California.

North Carolina Climate and Health Adaptation Plan

2016

The North Carolina Department of Health developed this Adaptation Plan as a part of the Building Resilience Against Climate Effects (BRACE) framework. This report builds off of the previous North Carolina Climate and Health Profile Report by prioritizing and recommending options to avoid or mitigate the state’s climate-related health impacts. Air quality and respiratory diseases, along with heat-related deaths and illnesses, are North Carolina’s top climate-related health priorities. The purpose of this adaptation plan is to provide the department with information to identify and implement adaptation strategies for climate-related health impacts across the state.

King County Strategic Climate Action Plan - 2015 Update

November 2015

In November 2015 King County, Washington adopted an update to their Strategic Climate Action Plan, which includes the county's plans for both reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preparing for climate change impacts.  Section 2 describes the county's adaptation plans for 12 focus areas: built environment (wastewater, roads and bridges, airport, county buildings and facilities) and planning and regional services (regional planning, public health, stormwater, floodplains, salmon recovery and rural programs, public transportation, environmental science and monitoring, and emergency management).

Colorado Climate Plan - State Level Policies and Strategies to Mitigate and Adapt (2015)

The Colorado Climate Plan is a statewide strategy of policy recommendations and actions to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and to increase Colorado’s climate preparedness. The Plan focuses on seven main sectors affected by climate change, including water, public health, energy, transportation, agriculture, tourism and recreation, and ecosystems.

South Ironbound Resiliency Action Plan - Newark, New Jersey

August 26, 2015

The South Ironbound Resiliency Action Plan lays out resiliency goals for a portion of the Ironbound neighborhood in the East Ward of Newark, New Jersey called South Ironbound, that will inform funding priorities and inform longer term climate mitigation and adaptation goals. The neighborhood is prone to flooding due to sewer back-ups, heavy rain storms, and storm surge. The report is organized into strategic components related to resilience. For each strategy, there is an in-depth review of major actions and implementation considerations.

Missoula Community Climate Smart Action Plan v1.0

July 2015

The City of Missoula, Montana and Climate Smart Missoula developed this plan as a guide for climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies for the community of Missoula. Expanding beyond the municipal strategies in the City’s Climate Action Plan, this “climate smart” plan outlines visions, goals, and specific activities to better and more equitably involve the entire community in climate change solutions.

Marin County Climate Action Plan (2015 Update)

July 2015

The 2015 Marin County, California Climate Action Plan (CAP) updates the 2006 Marin County Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan. The majority of the plan focuses on mitigation, providing an update of GHG emissions in 2012, forecasts of emissions for 2020, and an assessment of actions that the County will take to further reduce emissions by 2020. In addition, Chapter 8 focuses on adaptation, providing an overview of Marin’s expected climate risks, a summary of actions-to-date, and recommended next steps.
