Miami-Dade County Climate Change Advisory Task Force – Initial Recommendations

In July, 2006, the Board of County Commissioners established the Miami-Dade County Climate Change Advisory Task Force (CCATF), through the adoption of Ordinance 06-113 sponsored. The CCATF served as an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners and was charged with identifying potential future climate change impacts to Miami-Dade County, while providing recommendations regarding mitigation and adaptation measures to respond to climate change.

The task force completed their assessments and submitted recommendations to the Board in April 2008. This report identifies potential future climate change impacts to Miami-Dade County, while providing recommendations regarding mitigation and adaptation measures to respond to climate change. Section C, “Built Environment and Adaptation,” includes recommendations to address issues of sea-level rise and improving building infrastructure for climate resiliency. Section D addresses natural systems adaptation, and Section E offers recommendations to address economic, social, and human health impacts.

A status update became available in August 2010 (see separate entry in this Clearinghouse). Also available on the Task Force webpage are other Task Force reports and presentations, including the Science Committee presentation on sea-level rise projections.
