Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flood Web Tools Comparison Matrix

This online tool comparison matrix compares the functions and methods of publicly available sea level rise and coastal flood web tools - highlighting key features and differences between them - for all U.S. coastal states. Hosted by Climate Central, this chart is a “one-stop source of information” to coastal managers and planners.

Users can download the matrix or embed it in their own websites. The tools provided in the matrix are publicly available free of charge to support coastal zone planning.

As described by Climate Central - some web tools focus on comprehensive information on coastal hazards, while others primarily identify choices in adapting to these hazards. Scale and resolution of the information provided within a specific tool, geographies where a tool is available, intended use, and broad classification (i.e. tools for assessing risk and vulnerability, identifying adaptation options) were all considered in designing and implementing this matrix.

The searchable matrix contains tools for:

• Sea Level Rise and Flood Scenarios
• Exposure Analysis
• Shoreline Processes

The information in the columns for each tool is provided by the web tool owner. Specific questions about the tools can be addressed to the tool owner through the contact information provided in their matrix column.

The Nature Conservancy, NOAA Office for Coastal Management, and Climate Central contributed to the development of this online matrix.
