St. Bernard Parish Coastal Zone Management Program

This document updates the Coastal Zone Management Program (CZMP) of St. Bernard Parish, outlining a plan to guide coastal development with restoration and protection, incorporating sea level rise planning for the Parish. The original CZMP was created in 1982 and has been a working program since its official approval in 1987. The program is subject to two year periodic review by the Louisiana Office of Coastal Management.

The Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) is an organization of professionals involved in floodplain management, flood hazard mitigation, National Flood Insurance Program, and flood preparedness, warning and recovery. ASFPM is a respected voice in floodplain management practice and policy in the United States because it represents flood hazard specialists of local, state and federal government, research community, insurance industry, and the fields of engineering, hydrologic forecasting, emergency response, water resources and others.

The City of Hoboken, New Jersey published its Green Infrastructure Strategic Plan in October 2013 to create a framework for city-wide green infrastructure investments as a mechanism for improving storm water management, controlling flooding, and preparing for future climate change. It also encourages policy changes, such as zoning requirements and incentives, pilot projects, and plans for public lands and rights-of-way.

Development of a Methodology for the Assessment of Sea Level Rise Impacts on Florida’s Transportation Modes and Infrastructure

January 2012

This report provides a methodology for assessing the impacts of sea-level rise (SLR) on Florida transportation infrastructure. The report analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of different methods of forecasting SLR in Florida and provides recommendations for how those methods should be used by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The report also provides recommendations for identifying vulnerable transportation assets and addressing potential impacts of SLR to those assets. After this methodology was developed, FDOT funded a subsequent project to develop a GIS-based planning tool that aids in statewide and regional assessments of transportation asset vulnerability to SLR.

At the request of the World Bank the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) developed this report to provide guiding principles, processes, and methodologies for incorporating climate change impacts into analytical framework for evaluating water sector projects, with a particular emphasis on impacts on freshwater ecosystems. It was developed for use by the World Bank, however, much of the content is valuable for U.S. resource managers as well.

Impacts of Climate Change in Flood Frequency Analysis for Transportation Design in Alaska

July 2010

This study addresses whether or not current flood frequency estimates for south-central Alaska adequately characterize true flood occurrences given limited observational data, the influence of natural climate variability on extreme events, and potential climate change. The research is intended to lead to the understanding of regional hydrology while resulting in the least total cost for this aspect of transportation infrastructure in Alaska.

Climate Change and Potential Impacts to Wildlife in Tennessee

Congress charged each state and territory with developing a wildlife action plan in order to receive funds through the Wildlife Conservation and Restoration Program and the State Wildlife Grants Program. These proactive plans, known also as “Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategies,” assess the health of each state’s wildlife and habitats, identify the problems they face, and outline the actions that are needed to conserve them over the long term.

Adaptokc: Adapting for a Healthy Future - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

July 2020

Adaptokc, the first sustainability plan for Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was adopted by the city’s Planning Commission and City Council in summer 2020. Adaptokc aims to strengthen Oklahoma City communities in the face of economic, social, and environmental challenges -- including climate change. The plan is divided up into four main sections: energy productivity, natural and built environment, air quality, and waste reduction. Among the initiatives proposed in the plan are increased energy efficiency and renewable energy use, mitigation of heat through development requirements, reduced transportation emissions, reduced waste generation, and strengthening of infrastructure against extreme weather.
