Victoria's Climate Change Adaptation Plan (2017-2020)

Australia's State of Victoria Climate Change Adaptation Plan defines Victoria's climate change action priorities for 2017-2020. The Plan sets out the Government’s strategic priorities, measures and responses for adaptation in Victoria through 2020, as required by the state's Climate Change Act 2010. Victoria defines immediate priorities to address localized climate impacts and risks, and describes methods for building partnerships for an integrated response to climate change.

Our Changing Planet reports on the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP)'s recent research and education activities to inform climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts, highlighting those that intersect with President Obama’s Climate Action Plan. The report discusses progress towards each of four goals from USGCRP’s 2012-2021 Strategic Plan: to advance science, inform decisions, conduct sustained assessments, and communicate and educate.

Eugene and Springfield Multi-Jurisdiction Natural Hazard mitigation Plan

November 2016

The cities of Eugene and Springfield, Oregon have updated the Multi-jurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan (NHMP) to address earthquakes, flood, landslides, volcanic or seismic activity, wildfire, and winter storms. Climate change is discussed throughout the plan as it expands these impacts and affects many of the plan’s focal sectors - especially natural systems and water resources.

EPA Environmental Justice 2020 Action Agenda

The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Environmental Justice 2020 Action Agenda (EJ 2020) is the Agency’s environmental justice strategic plan for 2016 to 2020. The plan focuses on the environmental and public health issues for the nation’s minority, low-income, tribal and indigenous populations - and includes information on EPA’s climate justice initiatives. The goals of the agenda are to further integrate environmental justice considerations in all of the Agency’s programs; strengthen EPA’s collaboration with federal, state, tribal, community, and industry partners partners; and demonstrate progress on significant national challenges facing minority and low-income communities.

National Equity Atlas

The National Equity Atlas, created by PolicyLink and the Program for Environmental and Regional Equity, is an online tool that allows users to find information on demographic changes, racial and economic inclusion, and potential economic gains from racial equity. Data is available for the largest 100 cities, 150 metropolitan regions, and all 50 states in the United States. While this resource does not address climate change, it can provide useful information to frame environmental justice and equity challenges that may be exacerbated by climate change.

EPA Climate Change Adaptation Resource Center (ARC-X)

The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Adaptation Resource Center (ARC-X) is an interactive online tool designed to inform local decisionmakers about climate change impacts and adaptation solutions for communities across the U. S.  The tool provides information about climate change risks on sectors as selected by the user; relevant adaptation strategies; case studies illustrating how other communities have successfully adapted to those risks and tools to replicate their successes; and EPA funding opportunities.

King County, Washington Equity and Social Justice Strategic Plan

September 13, 2016

The King County, Washington Equity and Social Justice Strategic Plan provides the county’s blueprint and shared vision for addressing environmental justice, advancing equity, and fostering resiliency. The Plan was developed through a diverse and inclusive community engagement process including more than 600 county employees and 100 local organizations.   The Plan sets a pro-equity agenda for expanding access and addressing the following determinants of equity: child and youth development, economic development and jobs, environment and climate, health and human services, housing, information and technology, the justice system, and transportation and mobility.

Vermont Climate and Health Profile Report: Building Resilience against Climate Change in Vermont

September 2016

The Vermont Department of Health completed a comprehensive assessment of public health impacts of climate change, as a step toward furthering development of public health adaptation strategies for the state. The report summarizes climate trends and future projections for Vermont; synthesizes the health impacts of climate change, and evaluates the public health threat posed by each exposure in the context of Vermont-specific climate projections. The work is supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and utilizes the process as defined in the CDC’s Building Resilience against Climate Effects (BRACE) framework.

Michigan Climate and Health Adaptation Program Strategic Plan Update: 2016-2021

August 31, 2016

In 2011, the Michigan Department of Community Health released their first strategic adaptation plan for 2010-2015, providing the foundation for moving climate and health adaptation planning forward in Michigan. The Strategic Plan Update retains the original plan’s goals, tracks progress, and offers new strategies for the 2016-2021 period. The Michigan Climate and Health Adaptation Program (MICHAP) will be cooperating in CDC’s Climate and Health Adaptation and Monitoring Program (CHAMP), and strategies have been updated according to the CHAMP requirements.

San Antonio Tomorrow - City of San Antonio, Texas Sustainability Plan

The Sustainability Plan for San Antonio, Texas (SA Tomorrow) addresses the three pillars of sustainability - economic, environmental, and social -  and offers a roadmap for both the community and the municipal government to achieving sustainability in San Antonio. SA Tomorrow includes seven “Focus Areas” that were assessed for current conditions and vulnerabilities: Energy, Food System, Green Buildings and Infrastructure, Land Use and Transportation, Natural Resources, Public Health, and Solid Waste Resources.
