The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Climate and Health Profile Report 2015, “An Assessment of Climate Change Impacts on the Health & Well-Being of Minnesotans,” provides a comprehensive assessment of climate change impacts and potential health implications for the state. In addition to describing climate trends and projections, the report identifies datasets and the data gaps that could affect the development of quantitative measures of health outcomes. The report concludes with a brief discussion of next steps required for an effective response to the identified public health climate hazards.

From the Risky Business Project, “Heat in the Heartland” details how extreme heat from unmitigated climate change could transform the Midwest's communities and economy. This assessment defines the range of potential economic consequences on agriculture and businesses, as well as discusses the related impacts on labor productivity, livestock, energy use, public health, crime, fresh water supply and tourism. The report concludes that the most severe risks can still be avoided through early investments in resilience and immediate action to mitigate global warming.

The Western Water Assessment (WWA), in collaboration with Colorado State University, conducted this climate vulnerability study for the state of Colorado. Drawing from existing data and peer-reviewed research, the assessment summarizes the key impacts in seven sectors: ecosystems, water, agriculture, energy, transportation, outdoor recreation and tourism, and public health. It also details current adaptive capacity and potential strategies in those sectors to meet future climate challenges - providing a background for preparedness planning.

Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS), assesses the current climate and weather related risks for health care infrastructure, and proposes some best practices for building resilience to climate change. The HHS climate resilience guide is intended to address a wide range of health care facility vulnerabilities. It spans risks related to buildings, utilities and infrastructure, including IT infrastructure, supply chain issues, the needs of staff, and the role of the healthcare facility in the broader community.

Climate Resilience Toolkit, as called for in President Obama’s Climate Action Plan, is a website developed by a partnership of federal agencies and organizations led by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The Toolkit will enable decision-makers to take action to improve their climate resilience using data-driven tools, information, and subject-matter expertise. The comprehensive site is designed to serve interested citizens, communities, businesses, resource managers, planners, and policy leaders at all levels of government.

As part of his Climate Action Plan, in November 2013, President Obama issued Executive Order 13653 - 'Preparing the United States for the Impacts of Climate Change,' creating The State, Local, and Tribal Leaders Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience. The Task Force was directed to advise the Administration on how the Federal Government can respond to the needs of communities nationwide in achieving climate change resilience. The Task Force members, which include governors, mayors, county officials, and Tribal leaders from across the country, met throughout the year and used their first-hand experiences in building climate preparedness and resilience in their communities to inform their recommendations to the Administration.
