The Coastal Storm Surge Scenarios for Water Utilities, created by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), provides a visual representation using a map interface of hurricane strike frequency and worst-case coastal storm surge inundation scenarios (Storm surge inundation refers to the abnormal rise of water generated by a storm, over and above the predicted astronomical tides). This map aims to illuminate historical trends in coastal storm surges and flooding, in order to aid decision-makers tasked with improving coastal resiliency and emergency preparedness.

The City of Bowie, Maryland assessed how it could enhance its urban tree canopy to improve environmental outcomes and adapt to the impacts of climate change. The report describes the current conditions of the City's tree canopy, and the ecosystem service benefits provided by the existing urban forest. Strategies are identified that Bowie could implement to enhance and preserve the urban tree canopy - to maximize these ecosystem services and climate adaptation.

A series of white papers have been prepared by the State University System (SUS) of Florida Universities regarding realized and predicted climate change impacts, with this report specifically addressing water resources and adaptation issues across Florida. The primary objectives of this report are: (1) to identify Florida’s water resources and water-related infrastructure that are vulnerable to climate change; (2) show demographics in the state that are vulnerable to climate change impacts with a focus on water resources and sea level rise; and (3) highlight some of the alternative technologies currently being used to solve water resource supply issues in the state that are likely to expand and be challenged under various scenarios of climate change.

This paper discusses the role of irrigated agriculture in the western United States. Climate change in the west is expected to result in a more arid climate and therefore strain the already extended water uses in the region. Because of climate change and other factors, the report suggests that all water uses, including long-standing agricultural water rights, need to be re-examined. The author questions the region’s continued use of most of its water for irrigation, and the appropriate role of federal and state policy makers in responding to this environmental challenge.

The California Coastal Conservancy’s Climate Ready program focuses on protecting important coastal resources and habitats from the current and future impacts of climate change. The Conservancy is collaborating with local partners and other agencies to prepare communities along the California coast and within the San Francisco Bay for climate change. Army Corps of Engineers, this handbook provides a framework for integrating the impacts of climate change into water resources management. Key decisions, resources, tools, and planning options are presented to guide resource managers and planners as they develop means of adapting their programs to a changing climate. The handbook uses CA DWR's Integrated Regional Water Management (IRWM) planning framework as a model into which analysis of climate change impacts and planning for adaptation and mitigation can be integrated at a regional scale.
