Terrestrial Ecosystem Adaptation provides an evaluation of adaptation issues for natural ecosystems with a focus on the climate impacts of vegetation response, phenology, wildfire and other system-wide disturbances. It also describes adaptation scenarios of several species affected by climate change, including the snowshoe hare, wolverine, waterfowl, bighorn sheep, and amphibians. The report is limited to natural ecosystems, or those that have not been planted, irrigated, or fertilized - agricultural and grazing lands are excluded.

Climate and land-use change are major components of global environmental change with feedbacks between these components. The consequences of these interactions show that land-use may exacerbate or alleviate climate-change effects. Based on these findings it is important to use land-use scenarios that are consistent with the specific assumptions underlying climate change scenarios.

This report seeks to illustrate the impact that climate change can have on communities in the Galveston Bay region. It focuses on two scenarios of sea-level rise,. 69 meters and 1. 5 meters, and the associated socio-economic impact on the Galveston Bay area for the next 100 years. For each of the model scenarios estimates are given for the impact on displaced populations; the number of buildings impacted and building-related economic losses; industrial, hazardous, superfund, solid waste sites; and water treatment plants.

The City of Berkeley California's Climate Action Plan presents recommendations for the city to mitigate and adapt to a changing climate. Chapter 6 is devoted to adaptation in response to California Executive Order S-13-08, and includes policy recommendations for declining water supply, extreme heat, and rising sea levels. It also recommends a regional vulnerability assessment be conducted with neighboring cities, and from these results, a regional adaptation plan be created. .

This report is one of seven sector-specific chapters from the United States Global Change Research Program's comprehensive 2009 National Climate Assessment, "Global Climate Change Impacts in the U. S. " The 'Water Resources' chapter synthesizes current and projected impacts to the U. S. water cycle from climate change. Changes to the water cycle identified in the report include: changes in precipitation patterns and intensity, changes in the incidence of drought, widespread melting of snow and ice, increasing atmospheric water vapor, increasing evaporation, increasing water temperatures, reductions in lake and river ice, and changes in soil moisture and runoff.
