Launched by Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in the spring of 2009, ICCE is a cross-university program creating relevant linkages across disciplines to advance basic and applied climate change research. With FAU as the lead institution, ICCE includes more than 80 faculty members in a multitude of climate change-related disciplines. Other University collaborators include University of South Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University, and Columbia University.

The City of San Rafael's Climate Change Action Plan describes the city's current efforts and recommendations to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change. Mayor Al Boro was one of the initial signers of the U. S. Conference of Mayors Climate Projection Agreement in 2005, pledging that the city will reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in accordance with the Kyoto Protocol. To meet these goals, the City Council appointed a 16-member Green Ribbon Committee to lead a community process to prepare a plan to guide both the city organization and the entire community in responding to climate change.

EPA’s Global Change Research Program, is intended to provide managers and scientists working on air quality with information on the potential effects of climate change on regional air quality in the U. S. The report summarizes results from the assessment’s first phase, which focused on the development of regional modeling tools that demonstrate the sensitivity of air quality to climate change, with a particular emphasis on summertime ozone.

This report describes observed and potential effects of global climate change on species and ecosystems. It reviews climate change adaptation plans and other planning approaches from the United States, Canada, England, Mexico, and South Africa. The report also includes sixteen possible adaptation strategies, all proposed in scientific literature and public policy documents, that directly address the conservation of biological diversity. These strategies are grouped into four broad categories: land and water protection and management, direct species management, monitoring and planning, and law and policy.

Alaska's Immediate Action Workgroup (IAWG) of the Governor’s Executive Subcabinet on Climate Change was formed in 2007 to make and prioritize annual recommendations to address impacts to the state's communities from climate change. The Workgroup released its first report in 2008, addressing known climate threats to communities caused by coastal erosion, thawing permafrost, flooding, and fires. The climate impacts are assessed and recommendations are made for each of the Alaskan communities of Kivalina, Koyukuk, Newtok, Shaktoolik, Shismaref, and Unalakleet.

This report describes urban heat island effects on Dallas, Texas, and options that could be implemented to help reduce these effects. It summarizes the goals, costs, benefits, actions, and incentives that Dallas has available to cool the city. These include: (1) expanded use and care of trees and vegetation, (2) cool (reflective) and green roofs, and (3) cool or permeable paving strategies that can help cool the city and address storm water issues.

In March 2009, the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection published a series of eight sector-based reports; each defining current climate impacts, actions the Department is taking, and recommended actions to foster adaptation at local and regional levels. The eight reports address the sectors of: Biodiversity, Fisheries, Forestry, Infrastructure, Coastal, Recreation, Water Resources and Wildlife.

The City of Toronto in Ontario, Canada Eco-Roof Incentive Program provides grants to commercial, industrial and institutional property owners to improve the sustainability of Toronto's infrastructure and its resilience to climate change. Financial incentives are provided for the construction of green roofs that support vegetation and cool roofs that reflect the sun's thermal energy. Launched in 2009, the program supports the City's Climate Change Action Plan and complements the City's 'Green Roof Bylaw' and the 'Green Standard' by encouraging owners of existing buildings to retrofit their roofs.

Global Change Research Program (USGCRP), "The Essential Principles of Climate Science" presents important introductory information about the Earth's climate, impacts of climate change, and approaches for adapting and mitigating change. This climate science literacy guide identifies the essential principles and fundamental concepts for individuals and communities to understand the Earth’s climate system. It intends to improve the ability to make informed decisions about activities that increase vulnerability to the impacts of climate change, and to take the steps to reduce those vulnerabilities.
