Alliance of Regional Collaboratives for Climate Adaptation (ARCCA)

California’s Alliance of Regional Collaboratives for Climate Adaptation (ARCCA) was formed in early 2012 to coordinate regional and local efforts in preparing California for the impacts of climate change. ARCCA currently brings together five regional collaboratives from across the state including San Diego, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, and the Sierras.  The collaboratives are supporting local climate partners in projects to enhance resiliency and adaptation at the community level.

With offices and staff across six U.S. regions, this organization supports states conducting adaptation planning to help address impacts exacerbated by climate change such as flooding, drought, water quality and water supply. Webinars highlighting best practices by states are available on their website, in addition to other publications, legislative analysis and work efforts by region and by river throughout the nation.

AdaptNY

AdaptNY is a digital journalism project at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. The project uses innovative social networking and crowd sourcing to provide information about climate change. The project seeks to improve engagement over the issue of adaptation in NYC though a wide range of existing tools and techniques, from expansive curation to data journalism, mapping, and other original interactive and multimedia storytelling techniques. This digital-centered approach is supplemented by face-to-face workshopping hosted by CUNY and other news media partners.

Bay Area Climate Adaptation Network (BayCAN)

The Bay Area Climate Adaptation Network (BayCAN), formed in July of 2018, is a collaboration among local governments and partnering organizations that are working together to help the San Francisco Bay Area region effectively and efficiently respond to the impacts of climate change. BayCAN focuses on issues related to water supply, sea-level rise, wastewater and stormwater management, wildfires, ecosystems, and public health, building on existing efforts and initiatives of member agencies and organizations.
