Columbus, Ohio Climate Adaptation Plan

The City of Columbus, Ohio Climate Adaptation Plan offers recommended actions that can be taken to help Columbus and central Ohio prepare for and adapt to climate change. Developed by a task force of researchers from the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center at the Ohio State University, the plan is designed to support Columbus city government, regional organizations, and residents in building a climate resilient community.

Eye of the Storm: Report of the Governor's Commission to Rebuild Texas

The Governor’s Commission to Rebuild Texas was established just after Hurricane Harvey devastated the Gulf Coast region of the state in August 2017. Governor Abbott directed the commission to determine ways to improve the process of disaster response and to develop strategies for protecting the region against future storms. The Commission’s report details the magnitude and impacts of Harvey; assesses the federal, state and local response to the disaster; and offers recommendations on how Texas can better prepare for future disasters.

Evanston, Illinois Climate Action and Resilience Plan

The City of Evanston, Illinois’ climate plan envisions that by 2030, Evanston will meet 100% of electricity needs from renewable energy, and by 2050 become “a climate ready and resilient city that has successfully prioritized the needs of its most vulnerable while combating climate change. ” Evanston is a Great Lakes city, exposed to climate impacts such as increasingly intense storms, invasive species, hotter temperatures, drought conditions, human migration, and water quality impacts.

Tribal Climate Adaptation Guidebook
November 2018
Created by the Oregon Climate Change Research Institute with support from Adaptation International, this guidebook provides a climate change adaptation planning framework for tribal communities. The report offers a stepwise framework on adaptation planning, and over 30 case studies of tribes already in the adaptation process. It identifies opportunities for working with both Traditional Knowledges (TKs) and western science, and is designed to be useful for tribes at any stage of adaptation planning.

A Guide to Community-Centered Engagement in the District of Columbia

The Guide to Community-Centered Engagement was developed by the Georgetown Climate Center (GCC) in partnership with the District of Columbia's Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE). The guide synthesizes lessons from a year-long engagement process that GCC helped to lead in partnership with DOEE. GCC convened an Equity Advisory Group (EAG) of community leaders and residents in far Northeast neighborhoods of DC's Ward 7 to inform the implementation of the Clean Energy DC and Climate Ready DC plans.

Resilient Boston Harbor

The plan to develop a climate resilient Boston Harbor in the City of Boston, Massachusetts offers strategies for Boston's 47-mile shoreline that will increase access and open space along the waterfront while better protecting the city during a major flooding event. The plan focuses on green infrastructure and natural solutions to lowering the severity of sea level rise and flooding from climate change. “Resilient Boston Harbor” invests in Boston's waterfront with a proposed restructuring of Fort Point Channel, and development of coastal protection from East Boston to the Dorchester shoreline.

Chicago, Illinois Stormwater and Flooding Strategy - ON TO 2050

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) developed ON TO 2050 in 2018, a comprehensive region plan for the Chicago, Illinois region based on principles of inclusive and equitable growth; economic, environmental and climate resilience; and prioritized investments for infrastructure, development, and the economy. The Stormwater and Flooding Strategy is one component of ON TO 2050 that reviews the impacts of flooding, and explores policy recommendations and strategies to better prepare for and adapt to the impacts of urban and riverine flooding in the Chicago metropolitan region.

South Carolina Hazard Mitigation Plan - 2018 Update
October 2018
The 2018 Update to the South Carolina Hazard Mitigation Plan identifies the major natural hazards affecting the state, analyzes risk and vulnerability, and identifies actions to minimize impacts of those hazards. Mitigation actions identified in the plan are based on the Risk Assessment of multiple natural and manmade hazards, including climate impacts, and on the Capability Assessment reviewing the state’s capacity to address the hazards.
