Federal Actions for a Climate Resilient Nation - Progress Report of the Interagency Climate Change Adaptation Task Force

In October 2009, President Obama signed Executive Order 13514, Federal Leadership in Environmental and Energy Performance, which sets sustainability goals for Federal agencies and focuses on making improvements in agency environmental, energy, and economic performance. The Executive Order charged the Interagency Climate Change Adaptation Task Force with providing recommendations on how Federal policies, programs, and planning efforts can better prepare the United States for climate change. In October 2010, the Task Force recommended a set of policy goals and actions in its Progress Report to the President.

Aquatic Ecosystems, Water Quality, and Global Change: Challenges of Conducting Multi-Stressor Vulnerability Assessments (Final Report)

This report investigates the issues and challenges associated with identifying, calculating, and mapping indicators of the relative vulnerability of water quality and aquatic ecosystems, across the United States, to the potential adverse impacts of external forces such as long-term climate and land use change. Using a large set of environmental indicators drawn from the scientific and management literature, this draft report explores the conceptual and practical challenges associated with using such indicators to assess how the resilience of ecosystems and human systems may vary as a function of existing stresses and maladaptations.

The Transportation Research Board’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 708: 'A Guidebook for Sustainability Performance Measurement for Transportation Agencies' describes the underlying principles of sustainability as it relates to transportation, possible goals that can be used to address those principles, and performance measures that can be used to address those goals.

City of Berkeley, California Climate Action Plan Progress Report
2011
In June 2009, the City of Berkeley, California's City Council adopted a Climate Action Plan (CAP) designed to guide community-wide efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 33 percent below 2000 levels by 2020 and 80 percent by 2050. This report demonstrates the status of progress toward the CAP goals, intending to keep the community informed of efforts underway to implement the plan while enabling improved, informed management of climate action projects and programs. Resources are provided to help local residents and businesses take action as well.

California King Tides Initiative
The California King Tides Initiative encourages members of the public to document (photograph) the highest seasonal tides (or king tides) that occur along the state’s coast. Seasonal high tide events can provide a preview of what might be experienced regularly in the future as a result of rising sea levels. King tide events are an opportunity to share what you see in your community with others.

Climate Ready Estuaries 2010 Progress Report

This report details progress made in the Climate Ready Estuaries (CRE) program during 2010. CRE, in partnership with the National Estuaries Program (NEP), is helping estuaries assess their vulnerability to climate change impacts, engage stakeholders and develop monitoring and adaptation plans. Together with the 2009 CRE Progress Report, these reports provide a summary on the design and accomplishments of CRE to date, as well as next steps.

Miami-Dade County, Florida Climate Change Advisory Task Force – Status Update
August 2010
In July, 2006, the Board of County Commissioners established the Miami-Dade County Climate Change Advisory Task Force (CCATF), through the adoption of Ordinance 06-113. The CCATF served as an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners and was charged with identifying potential future climate change impacts to Miami-Dade County, while providing recommendations regarding mitigation and adaptation measures to respond to climate change.

Performance Scorecard for Implementing the Forest Service (USFS) Climate Change Strategy

This performance scorecard was developed to ensure compliance with the overall U. S. Forest Service Climate Change Strategy recommendations by 2015. While the scorecard is delivered and completed annually at the individual/localized national forest level, many of the items require regional and national support and guidance in order to achieve compliance. The scorecard uses the following four categories to track performance: Organizational Capacity; Partnerships, Engagement and Education; Adaptation; and Mitigation measures.
