The Model Forest Policy Program, the Cumberland River Compact, and the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) developed a Climate Adaptation Plan for Whatcom County, Washington, with a focus on resiliency and adaptability of ecosystems in the county and Nooksack River basin. Assessments were conducted on the county’s water, forest, and economic resources, current climate, and potential future climate impacts. The assessments informed a risk analysis that identified Whatcom County’s most vulnerable sectors.

Recognizing the impacts of climate change, a Climate Change Sub-Cabinet was formed in 2007 to inform the Office of the Governor of Alaska, and to prepare a comprehensive climate change strategy for the state. As part of this effort, each state agency was asked to identify how climate change impacts may affect its ability to meet its mission. Because a changing climate is anticipated to affect the sustainability of Alaska’s fish and wildlife resources and their uses, it is of interest to the department to assess the likely effects of climate change on fish and wildlife and their uses and to develop adaptation strategies to address these effects.

Enacted in 2010 by the State of Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources, this document sets forth the Department’s policy to manage the state’s land, natural resources and assets toward better understanding, mitigating and adapting to climate change. In this policy, the Department identifies climate change-related practices, procedures and implementation actions across seven areas: new land investments, facility and infrastructure siting and design, habitat restoration, government operations, research and monitoring, resource planning, and advocacy.

Building on the Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment for Lee County, Florida the CCRS includes a process for identifying potential climate change resiliency strategies through coordination and consultation with local government leadership in 39 Lee County departments and divisions. The Guam Coastal Management Program (GCMP) completed assessment and strategy documents in 1991, 1997, 2001, and 2006. This 2010 update provides an opportunity to review the program's accomplishments as well as its strategy for handling new challenges and changing scenarios facing Guam. This update also reflects changes that are based on the single biggest event to happen on Guam since World War II: a massive Department of Defense buildup.
