The City of Albany, New York completed a vulnerability assessment on its exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity to climate change, and from this developed recommended response strategies for current and future climate impacts. This report describes the vulnerability assessment and climate risks for Albany’s social systems, infrastructure and natural resources - and provides recommendations and strategies on how to improve the city’s resilience and adaptive capacity.

The Fogarty International Center (FIC) and the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) have identified ecological and evolutionary sciences, including field biology and mathematical modeling, and socio-ecology as essential disciplines to understand and predict transmission of zoonotic and other infectious diseases that involve biotic or abiotic vectors, including diseases of humans, other animals, and plants.

Through support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), MICHAP is building a climate-resilient public health system for Michigan at the state, local health department, and community levels.

King County’s 2012 Strategic Climate Action Plan (SCAP) summarizes the County’s efforts in addressing climate change, outlining the county’s most critical goals and priority actions for preparing for climate impacts and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The plan is designed to inform policy and budget decisions, and to serve as the framework for annual reporting along with the County’s energy, green building and environmental purchasing programs. The plan responds to King County Council Ordinance 17270, which required the county executive to develop a strategic climate action plan by 2012, and update the plan in 2015.

The Detroit Climate Action Collaborative (DCAC) partnered with University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning to assess climate change vulnerability in Detroit, Michigan - and the results are presented in this report. A Vulnerability Assessment is included which identifies places and populations in Detroit that are at risk from specific climate impacts, with a focus on extreme heat and flooding. An overlay of the socio-economic demographics was added to help prioritize the populations that may experience the greatest vulnerability.

Conducted by a team of City staff and regional partners (the "Core Team"), the study recommends an overarching policy aimed to increase protection and resilience within municipal operations to hazards - including fire, severe winter storms, drought, floods, and more.
