Adapting to Climate Change in Minnesota - Preliminary Report of the Interagency Climate Adaptation Team

August 2010

In July, 2009, an Interagency Climate Adaptation Team (ICAT) began to explore the potential effects of climate change in Minnesota, and to develop an adaptation plan for the state. This high-level report, the first work product of the team, synthesizes how climate change may affect Minnesota. The report includes an inventory of past, current and proposed state agency adaptation actions for key sectors including: agriculture, energy, health, natural resources, water and transportation.

Climate Change in Point Hope, Alaska - Strategies for Community Health

August 2010

This report details the struggles of the community of Point Hope, Alaska to adapt to the impacts of climate change.  Major climate change impacts affecting the community include: changes in temperature and precipitation, sea level rise, erosion, permafrost melt, thinning ice and increased snow accumulation, decreases in water quality and supply, and food safety and security.

Minnesota GreenStep Cities

June 2010

GreenStep Cities is a state-wide voluntary program for Minnesota cities to assist in implementing sustainable best management practices. Managed by a public-private partnership, this free continuous improvement program provides technical assistance and recognition for cities that adopt best practices in sustainability and resilience.   The GreenStep program identifies 29 best practices that cities can adopt to plan for climate impacts, increase energy efficiency and green and resilient buildings, foster green businesses and jobs, among other practices.

Broward County, Florida Climate Change Action Plan

May 4, 2010

Developed by the Broward County Climate Change Task Force, the Climate Change Action Plan is a set of 126 recommended short, medium and long-term actions, that combined, form a coordinated countywide strategy for both mitigating and adapting to climate change. The recommendations include information on planning horizon, status of action, likely responsible County entity, potential community partners, estimated resources required, and recommended performance measures.

A Climate Change Vulnerability and Risk Assessment for Atlanta, Georgia

April 23, 2010

This report, a Masters thesis, provides climate change adaptation guidance to local decision makers by identifying vulnerable planning areas within the city and assessing the risks of expected climate impacts. The results of these analyses determined priority objectives for adaptation planning. The report also provides a framework for subsequent adaptation planning phases.
