U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Climate Change Center and Environmental Forecasting

In May 1999, the Department of Transportation (DOT) announced the formation of its Center for Climate Change and Environmental Forecasting (CCCEF) to address issues associated with climate change and variability. The Center has become the focal point within USDOT for information and technical expertise on transportation and climate change, working with its component organizations to coordinate related research, policies, and actions. The Center promotes comprehensive multi-modal approaches to reduce GHG emissions and prepare for the effects of climate change on the transportation system, while advancing USDOT's core goals of safety, mobility, environmental stewardship, and security.

Founded in 1966, the United Puerto Rican Organization of Sunset Park (UPROSE) is Brooklyn's oldest Latino community-based organization. An intergenerational, multi-racial, nationally recognized community organization, UPROSE promotes sustainability and resiliency in Brooklyn's Sunset Park neighborhood through community organizing, education, indigenous and youth leadership development, and cultural/artistic expression. UPROSE advocates to ensure meaningful community engagement, participatory community planning practices, and sustainable development with justice and governmental accountability.
