The Regional Plan Association prepared this strategic plan for the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut metropolitan area. The fourth plan for the region is a long-term strategy that focuses on four core values of equity, prosperity, health, and sustainability. The plan identifies financing for new resilient infrastructure, expands the transit network, builds more green infrastructure for climate adaptation, and invests in communities economic growth and sustainability.

The Federal Highway Administration led a Hurricane Sandy Resiliency Study to inform ways to improve resilience of the tri-state New York - New Jersey - Connecticut region's transportation system and to inform disaster recovery efforts. The study, which began in 2013 and was completed in late 2017, involved a detailed assessment of the impacts and disruption caused by Hurricane Sandy as well as from several other extreme weather events occurring in the area in 2011, and analyzed vulnerability and risk to the tri-state transportation system at three different scales: regional (entire study area), subarea (corridor/small network), and facility.

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) green infrastructure solutions for resilience documented in this report are the result of a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) sponsored pilot project. ODOT analyzed how green infrastructure can help protect the Oregon Coast Highway (US 101) from the impacts of extreme storms and coastal bluff erosion. Through this study ODOT explored the use of nature-based design solutions to protect coastal transportation infrastructure from these climate enhanced impacts.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) realigned a 2. 8 mile section of iconic Highway 1 to address current and anticipated impacts from coastal erosion and storm surge. This section of Highway 1, which is north of the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse in San Luis Obispo County, was already experiencing increased storm damage from flooding and erosion, with these impacts projected to increase with rising sea levels and higher storm surge caused by climate change. Realigning the highway away from the coast reduces its vulnerability to current damage as well as to future climate impacts and is anticipated to protect the highway from bluff retreat beyond the year 2100.

With this guidance, re.Focus aims to support the alignment of public-sector disaster risk reduction measures with private insurance through the use of Resilience Bonds. The report highlights several reasons why governments at all levels and public interest entities (like water and electric utilities, ports, and transit systems) should consider Resilience Bonds as part of a broad strategy to build both physical and financial resilience - and illustrates how to do so.

The Seattle Climate Preparedness Strategy presents a plan to improve the resilience of the city’s infrastructure and services to climate change. Seattle’s overarching climate resilience vision is to reduce emissions and prepare for climate-related impacts while building vibrant neighborhoods, fostering economic prosperity, and enhancing equity. The strategy considers climate change’s impacts on many of Seattle’s public sectors, and suggests strategies for the city to reduce or eliminate those impacts in each sector.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) developed this guidance to assist the department's planners with integrating climate change considerations in planning processes in order to build greater resilience of the state's transportation system. The guidance helps implement Strategy 3. 2 of the department's strategic plan, Results WSDOT, which states that "WSDOT’s plans and projects undergoing environmental review, will document how climate change and extreme weather vulnerability are considered, and propose ways to improve resilience.
