The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is working with the organization paleBLUEdot and other agencies to provide assessment services and funding for 23 cities throughout Minnesota to identify climate-vulnerable populations, resilience indicators, and strategies to reduce climate risks. The report includes a climate adaptation Goals for local communities across Minnesota, as well as a comprehensive list of adaptation strategies. The project initiates the development of adaptation implementation plans for these communities to conserve resources, prioritize cost and benefit balanced strategies, and protect the most vulnerable populations from climate change impacts.

From UCLA’s Center for Climate Science, this report describes the findings on how climate change will impact the Sierra Nevada snowpack, the water cycle in the Sierra, and the larger implications for California's water resources. The project primarily focused on changes in climate averages: average springtime temperatures, snowpack at April 1st, and timing of runoff.

In 2018 the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) replaced the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) program with the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) transportation grant program. BUILD is a discretionary grant program that makes federal funding available on a competitive basis to surface transportation projects that meet "merit criteria. The Blackfeet or Amskapi Pikuni Nation integrated their tribal government priorities, traditional values and ecological knowledge, climate change impact science, and a collective vision of the future to build this climate change adaptation plan. The plan is oriented around eight focal tribal resource management sectors of: Agriculture, Culture, Forestry, Fish, Wildlife, Land and Range, Water, and Human Health in northern Montana. Projected climate impacts were analyzed with experts within the Blackfeet Nation for each sector to create climate adaptation goals, strategies, and actions.

In April 2018, New York City released new Climate Resiliency Design Guidelines that apply to all City capital projects, aside from coastal protection projects. The guidelines direct planners, engineers, architects, and others involved in project delivery on how to use regionally-specific future climate projections in the design of City facilities.

Whitefish, Montana has committed to climate change mitigation and adaptation measures in this Climate Action Plan. Drafted by a mayor-appointed committee with extensive public involvement, the plan describes the actions that Whitefish can take to transition to a clean energy economy, reduce GHG emissions, and strategically build resilience to climate change impacts. The report outlines nearly 100 specific actions to implement 26 climate adaptation and mitigation strategies across six chapters for six focal sectors: City Buildings and Energy; Transportation and Land Use; Water and Wastewater; Forests and Watersheds; Consumption, Food and Waste; and School District.

In March 2018, the 100 Resilient Cities (100RC) initiative released the "Safer and Stronger Cities" report with a series of policy recommendations on how the federal government could help support urban resilience initiatives. Five chapters focus on strategies for enhancing resilience through infrastructure, housing, economic development, and public safety. Each chapter provides a background discussion of the resilience challenges for cities; the opportunities to enhance resilience in these focal areas including climate adaptation strategies; and case study examples of local, state, and federal actions to advance resilience in each sector.

The U.S. Water Alliance has investigated water assets and systems in the Great Lakes region, and the equitable management of these assets. The report describes climate change impacts on water resources, along with other equity issues such as failing infrastructure, affordability, and workforce inclusion. Opportunities for the region to adapt the water sector, and detailed strategies provide a framework for making these water systems more inclusive.

The City of Los Angeles, California - in partnership with The Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities (100RC) - released its first citywide Resilience Strategy. The plan describes nearly 100 adaptive actions for extreme events, disaster preparedness and resilient infrastructure, as well as pervasive issues such as social inequities, and climate change. Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti signed an executive directive in conjunction with the Strategy, that requires City departments to appoint Chief Resilience Officers, who will play a significant role in furthering the implementation of the 100 RC strategy.
