The Climate Ready Estuaries Program, of the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, works to help coastal managers protect estuaries from the effects of climate change. Climate Ready Estuaries provides a variety of information on developing coastal adaptation plans for coastal managers both within the National Estuary Programs and elsewhere. These resources relate to vulnerability assessments, developing and implementing adaptation strategies, engaging and educating stakeholders, and sharing past experience with coastal managers.

The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a Global Change Research Program, an assessment-oriented program with primary emphasis on understanding the potential consequences of climate variability and change on human health, ecosystems, and socioeconomic systems in the U. S. EPA’s research on global change has two major areas of emphasis: air quality and water quality/aquatic ecosystems. Research is also conducted to support understanding of the human health impacts from global change.
Organization
The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) climate and global change adaptation goal is to develop practical, nationally consistent and regionally tailored, legally justifiable and cost-effective adaptation measures, both structural and nonstructural, that will reduce vulnerabilities and improve resilience to these challenges (USACE Climate Change Adaptation Plan and Report 2011- see separate entry). The entire portfolio of USACE Civil Works water resources infrastructure and programs, existing and proposed, may be affected by climate change and require some form of adaptation.

The USGS Alabama Water Science Center provides current real time data on streamflow, ground water, water quality, precipitation, and lakes and reservoirs from sites throughout Alabama. The center also has numerous publications, data sheets, projects, and scientific reports on a range of hydrological topics. The USGS operates the most extensive satellite network of stream-gaging stations in the state, many of which form the backbone of flood-warning systems. The USGS provides current ("real-time") stream stage and streamflow, water-quality, and ground-water levels for over 200 sites in Alabama.

The U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) web page for the water resources of Alaska aggregates all kinds of water-resource information, including information on Alaska's rivers and streams, ground water, water quality, and many other topics. The USGS operates the most extensive satellite network of stream-gaging stations in the state, many of which form the backbone of flood-warning systems. The USGS provides current ("real-time") stream stage and streamflow, water-quality, and ground-water levels for over 200 sites in Alaska.

The Arizona Water Science Center is one of 48 Water Science Centers in the Water Resources Discipline of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The Water Science Center's mission is to collect, analyze and disseminate the impartial hydrologic data and information needed to wisely manage water resources for the people of the U.S. and the State of Arizona.
Organization
The USGS Arkansas Water Science Center provides water resources information for Arkansas, including quantity and quality of ground water, quantity and quality of surface water, and water use. The USGS provides current real time data on streamflow, stage, water quality, and precipitation information from more than 130 locations across Arkansas. The center has historical data on streamflow, ground water, water quality, and other water-related information. The center also has numerous publications, data sheets, projects, and scientific reports on a range of hydrological topics.
Organization
The USGS California Water Science Center brings many capabilities and tools to the understanding, management and protection of California's water and other natural resources. This center conducts long-term monitoring of streamflow and water quality; develops new sampling, analytical, and interpretive methods to assess groundwater quality; studies the geology of groundwater systems to help managers protect and optimize supplies; devises new computer models that can play a key role in everything from managing surface and groundwater supplies, to assessing the impact of climate change on individual watersheds; and conducts multi-disciplinary ecosystem and watershed research, including large-scale studies in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta and San Francisco Bay.

The USGS Caribbean Water Science Center provides current real time data on streamflow, ground water, water quality, precipitation, and lakes and reservoirs from sites throughout the Caribbean. The center also has historical data on streamflow, ground water, water quality, and other water-related information. The center also has numerous publications, data sheets, projects, and scientific reports on a range of hydrological topics.
Organization
The USGS Colorado Water Science Center provides current real time data on streamflow, ground water, water quality, precipitation, and lakes and reservoirs from sites throughout Colorado. The center also has numerous publications, data sheets, projects, scientific reports, and an archive of water-resource information collected for more than 100 years on a range of hydrological topics.
