This report was prepared by the Washington Department of Ecology, offering recommendations on how existing state policies and programs can better prepare Washington State to respond to the impacts of climate change. This response strategy was built in collaboration with the state departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Fish and Wildlife, Health, Natural Resources, and Transportation - integrating the recommendations of the four advisory groups. It also utilizes the best available science on climate impacts from the Washington Climate Change Impacts Assessment, as well as Washington’s initial adaptation plan developed in 2008 under Executive Order 07-02.

This ClimateWise report provides climate change adaptation strategies that were developed by local leaders and experts in Fresno County, California, during a series of workshops in 2009-2010. Workshop participants considered both climate change impacts and local vulnerabilities while developing a suite of recommendations for increasing local resilience across sectors and communities. These recommendations are focused on socioeconomic systems including health and emergency preparedness, agriculture, and water resources and infrastructure, as well as species and ecosystems specifically within freshwater aquatic and riparian, woodlands and forests, and valley floor grasslands and semi-desert ecosystems.

On Earth Day, April 2011, Boston's then Mayor Menino released 'A Climate of Progress,' the updated Climate Action Plan for the City of Boston, which encompasses the recommendations from the 2010 report of the Climate Action Leadership Committee and the Community Advisory Committee.

This report presents climate adaptation strategies for San Luis Obispo County (SLO) with a focus on increasing the resilience of both human and natural communities. The report reflects the collective efforts of many people in SLO, including elected leaders, county planners, land managers, public health officials, concerned citizens, and others who attended four workshops in 2009 - 2010. These meetings were held to discuss the threat of climate change to the community and establish some initial strategies to reduce vulnerability.

The Adaptation Advisory Group (AAG) to the Alaska Climate Change Sub-Cabinet created this adaptation response plan as part of Alaska's overall climate change strategy, which also addresses mitigation and research needs, and includes a special Immediate Action Workgroup report. In 2007, Portland City Council and the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners adopted resolutions directing staff to design a strategy to reduce local carbon emissions by 80 percent by 2050. This 2009 Climate Action Plan responds to that directive. It intends to guide future efforts by the City and County and provide an innovative framework for the region’s transition to a more prosperous, sustainable, and climate-stable future. An updated version of this plan was released in 2015.

Greenworks Philadelphia was launched by Mayor Michael Nutter in 2009, and serves as the City of Philadelphia’s first comprehensive sustainability plan. The purpose of this report in 2006 was to provide residents and stakeholders with the information necessary to make an informed decision regarding the best solution for the community of Kivalina facing the impacts of sea-level rise. This master plan from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) provides preliminary facility designs, costs, schedule, and a decision matrix for the community of Kivalina and its relocation stakeholders. The current state of the community is discussed in detail including the physical setting of the planning area, descriptions of 'living resources' such as endangered species and habitats, as well as the culture, history and demography of the community.

National Adaptation Programmes of Action (NAPAs) were established by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to provide a process for Least Developed Countries to identify priority activities that respond to their immediate needs to adapt to climate change, ultimately leading to the implementation of projects aimed at reducing the economic and social costs of climate change.
