The Community-Driven Climate Resilience Planning framework was developed to help community-based organizations define and build climate resilience, while meaningfully engaging vulnerable and impacted communities. The framework advocates advancing democratic practices at the local and regional levels, describes the principles and practices defining this emergent field, and offers resources for community-based institutions implementing community-driven planning processes. A new version of this resource has been published.

This essay from the Climate and Traditional Knowledges Workgroup (CTKW) makes the case that climate scientists, academics, policymakers, and others working with tribes to utilize traditional knowledges, need guidelines for ethical conduct for using this knowledge. The essay recognizes traditional knowledges as beneficial to climate change because of indigenous peoples’ unique knowledge of the environment, but comments that there are opportunities for abuse.

Oregon Governor Brown's 2015 Executive Order on drought and climate change sets a goal to reduce water consumption by 15 percent or more on average across all state-owned facilities on or before December 31, 2020. The EO also directs agencies to update the state's overall planning for drought, including potential new tools to help communities deal with the impacts of water shortages.

The Northern Manhattan Climate Action Plan (NMCA) was built by and for the residents of Northern Manhattan of New York City, New York in partnership with WE ACT for Environmental Justice. The plan addresses climate-related impacts on New York City’s most vulnerable populations by promoting environmental policies that also aim to address socioeconomic inequality. The Cape Cod Commission (“Commission”) has begun to systematically consider the long-range impacts of climate change as it works to guide regional transportation- and development-planning efforts for an iconic but vulnerable area of coastal Massachusetts. The Commission is responsible for directing regional land-use policy, regulating developments whose impacts cross town boundaries, and supporting the 15 Cape Cod municipalities that make up Barnstable County with planning and technical expertise.

This database produced by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provides reports of climate-related data on the national and global scales which are updated monthly. Monthly Climate Updates from NOAA occur the third Thursday of each month, wherein NOAA climate and weather experts review key findings from the national and global State of the Climate reports. These reports are aggregated and summarized in the Summary Information section each month. The reports include data, analysis, tables, charts, infographics, and supplementary materials.

The Coastal Storm Modeling System (CoSMoS) is a numerical modeling system used to predict coastal flooding due to climate change-driven sea-level rise and storms. CoSMos provides explicit, deterministic modeling of all the relevant physics (e. g. , tides, waves, surge) of a coastal storm scaled down to local flood resolution projections. The system provides coastal planners and emergency managers with hazard information to inform coastal management, mitigate physical damage, and enhance public safety.

The "State of the Climate" is the authoritative annual summary of the global climate published as a supplement to the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society. An international, peer-reviewed publication released each summer, it provides a detailed update on global climate indicators, notable weather events, and other data collected by environmental monitoring stations and instruments located on land, water, ice, and in space. The State of the Climate report is compiled by NOAA’s Center for Weather and Climate at the National Centers for Environmental Information and is based on contributions from 413 scientists from 58 countries around the world.

Launched in 2010, the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) is the result of multi-sector, community-based collaboration among federal agencies to protect and restore the Great Lakes system. Members of the GLRI Task Force include the Council on Environmental Quality, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of the Interior, and the Department of State, among others.
