FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program
Administered by FEMA, the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP, CFDA Number: 97.039) provides grants to state and local governments to implement long-term hazard mitigation measures after a major disaster declaration. HMGP funding is only available to applicants that reside within a Presidentially declared disaster area. The purpose of the HMGP is to reduce the loss of life and property due to natural disasters and to enable mitigation measures to be implemented during the immediate recovery from a disaster.

Heat Related Illness Prevention (Training)
The goal of this web-based training course is to reinforce awareness of heat-related illness in order to promote the development and implementation of school guidelines, including an emergency plan by coaches, athletic trainers, students, school nurses, parents and teachers. After completing the course, users should be able to: define heat-related illness; identify the three main types of heat-related illness; identify the symptoms, or warning signs, for each type of heat-related illness; describe treatment options for each type of heat-related illness, including return-to-play considerations; and describe steps to prevent heat-related illness.

Energy and Environment Legislation Tracking Device
The National Conference of State Legislatures tracks state energy and environment legislation that has been introduced in the fifty states and the District of Columbia. Both climate change mitigation and adaptation searches are supported. The tracker contains bills that have been enacted, as well as those that are pending or have failed. NCSL indicates their database is updated and summarized bi-weekly. .

Flood Mitigation Assistance Program
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provides Flood Mitigation Assistance funds to assist states, territories, local and federally-recognized Indian tribal governments to implement measures that reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of flood damage to buildings, manufactured homes, and other structures insured under the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA announced a new round of funding for Fiscal Year 2022 totaling $160 million. The application period for this round of funding will be open from September 30, 2021 to January 28, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. ET.
The Fiscal Year 2022 funding notice for the Flood Mitigation Assistance program adopts the Center for Disease Control's Social Vulnerability Index as an additional scoring criteria to rank applications for proposed projects and activities. This new criteria prioritizes funding for the disadvantaged communities by awarding extra points to projects that affect underserved populations.
