The Delaware Climate Change Impact Assessment is a comprehensive statewide report produced by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Division of Energy and Climate. The report includes a summary of past climate trends and future climate projections for Delaware, and a synthesis of the best available climate science that describes current and future impacts of temperature, precipitation, and sea level rise. The climate change impacts are detailed for five key sectors including public health, water resources, agriculture, wildlife and ecosystems, and infrastructure.

The Pioneer Valley Climate Action and Clean Energy Plan presents an impact assessment of climate change in the Pioneer Valley region of Massachusetts, and provides many local and regional climate adaptation strategies. This plan identifies the amounts and sources of the Pioneer Valley’s greenhouse gas emissions; offers regional targets for GHG reduction in a Clean Energy Plan Update; and recommends detailed strategies for both mitigating and adapting to climate change impacts.

“Planning and Drought” (PAS Report No. 574) presents best practices and case studies in drought planning. The report offers a comprehensive guide for citizens, planners, and communities to explore what drought is, how to track it, its impacts, and how planners and communities can prepare to mitigate its effects. This publication is the result of a partnership between the American Planning Association (APA), the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and the National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS).

The USDA Regional Climate Hubs offer climate adaptation tools, strategies management options, and technical support to farmers, ranchers and forest land owners. The Hubs direct land managers to USDA agencies that can provide program support to enable them to implement climate-informed management practices. The Midwest Climate Hub works with the states of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Minnesota.

The State of Maryland predicts growing economic uncertainty in agriculture, the state’s largest commercial industry, due to climate change. Published by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, this brochure summarizes climate change related risks for the agriculture sector and potential adaptation strategies. For example, increased temperatures and precipitation variability could translate into greater production costs, as farmers may require additional water for irrigation, or more frequent pest treatments.

The West Michigan Environmental Action Council, in partnership with the Grand Rapids Office of Energy and Sustainability, investigated climate change resiliency for Grand Rapids, Michigan with city grant funding in 2012. The outcome of the study was the identification of key impacts across community sectors in Grand Rapids, and recommendations for managing these impacts through adaptation and resiliency planning. Drawing on interviews from local experts from a wide range of sectors, the report uses the triple bottom line framework to analyze the social, economic, and environmental aspects of climate resiliency.

In November 2013 the Obama Administration announced a new partnership between seven Federal agencies to help communities better prepare for drought, through both drought assistance and preparedness planning. The interagency National Drought Resilience Partnership (NDRP) was established as part of President Obama’s Climate Action Plan.
