Massachusetts's Climate Preparedness Initiative, from Governor Deval Patrick’s administration, is a $50 million investment for a statewide plan to address the present and future impacts of climate change. These investments will assess and address vulnerabilities in public health, transportation, energy and the Commonwealth’s built environment.

The leaders of British Columbia, California, Oregon and Washington signed the Pacific Coast Action Plan on Climate and Energy on October 28, 2013 - committing their governments to a comprehensive and far-reaching strategic alignment to combat climate change and promote clean energy. The Pacific Coast Collaborative was established on June 30, 2008 when the State Governors (and Premier of BC) signed the Pacific Coast Collaborative Agreement. This agreement was the first to unite Pacific leaders in developing a shared strategy and vision for the region.

Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson’s Office of Sustainability convened a 50-member Climate Action Advisory Committee with representatives of leading organizations from the commercial, industrial, educational, government, and non-profit sectors to inform and create Cleveland's Climate Action Plan (CAP). 33 actions are outlined in the plan, within 6 focus areas including: Energy Efficiency and Green Building; Advanced and Renewable Energy; Sustainable Mobility; Waste Reduction and Resource Conservation; Land Use and Clean Water; and Community Engagement and Public Health.

In March of 2013, the Dane County Climate Change Action Council was created with the mission of ensuring that the Dane County government is better prepared for weather extremes brought on by global climate change. To support their mission and prepare this report, the Council facilitated an internal review of preparations and potential modifications to the county’s operations and capital investments. Based on the internal review, this report identifies potential vulnerabilities to climate change, and provides sector based adaptation strategies.

This climate impact assessment from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) identifies current and anticipated climate change impacts for Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania's DEP is required to assess climate impacts every three years under the state's 2008 Climate Change Act. The first PA Climate Impact Assessment was released in 2009, and the next one was due in the spring of 2012 but was ultimately released in early October 2013. This report was prepared by the Pennsylvania State University’s Environment and Natural Resources Institute, using improved climate models, and includes updates on the state’s climate vulnerabilities.

Statewide drought planning for Colorado has been developed through the preparation and implementation of the Colorado Drought Mitigation and Response Plan (DMRP). This plan was prepared by the Colorado Water Conservation Board, a division of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources. In 2010, the DMRP went through a comprehensive revision. The 2013 updated plan outlines a mechanism for coordinated drought monitoring, impact assessment, response to emergency drought problems, and mitigation of long term drought impacts.

This report synthesizes regional studies on the implications of climate change on Bureau of Reclamation operations and activities in 17 Western States. Specifically, the report addresses past and projected effects of climate change on hydrology and water resources. The report outlines implications for the key resource areas the Bureau considers in its planning processes for each of the Bureau's five regions: Pacific Northwest, Mid-Pacific, Lower Colorado, Upper Colorado, and Great Plains.

The City of Chicago adapted energy efficiency policies for both commercial and residential buildings to support both its mitigation and adaptation goals. Waste heat from energy consumption has been estimated to account for about one-third of the urban heat island effect, in some US cities, and energy efficiency policies can be an effective strategy and mitigating these effects. [/ref] This ordinance in combination with the city's energy conservation code and utility cost disclosure ordinance seek to enhance energy efficiency in the city's building stock and reduce waste heat from buildings.
