The City of Boulder's 2011 Greenways Master Plan creates a stewardship plan for the city's riparian areas along Boulder Creek and its 14 tributaries. Although the plan does not explicitly consider climate change, it provides a useful example for how cities can coordinate management of natural resources and recreational amenities across city agencies and using multiple sources of funding. The purpose of Greenways was to integrate multiple management objectives for riparian areas including protecting habitat, managing water quality, managing flooding and stormwater, and creating and enhancing trails and recreational amenities.

On Earth Day, April 2011, Boston's then Mayor Menino released 'A Climate of Progress,' the updated Climate Action Plan for the City of Boston, which encompasses the recommendations from the 2010 report of the Climate Action Leadership Committee and the Community Advisory Committee.

The Maryland Commission on Climate Change released its Phase II Strategy for Reducing Maryland’s Vulnerability to Climate Change on January 24, 2011. The report outlines strategies to reduce Maryland's vulnerability to the impacts of climate change, including sea level rise, increased temperature and changes in precipitation within the following sectors: Human Health; Agriculture; Forest and Terrestrial Ecosystems; Bay and Aquatic Environments; Water Resources; and Population Growth and Infrastructure.

The 2060 Florida Transportation Plan (FTP) is an effective example of mainstreaming the consideration of climate change into an existing strategic planning framework. It defines Florida's future transportation vision, goals, objectives, and strategies to guide transportation decisions over the next 50 years, while indicating the need to consider climatic changes and related impacts into both planning variables, and key decisions (e.g. infrastructure siting, maintenance and operations).

The Charlotte County – Punta Gorda Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (MPO) Long Range Transportation Plan contains a section on hazard mitigation designed to help the MPO identify specific roadways and properties within the region that are at risk of sea-level rise and storm surges, and identify strategies that can help protect the region from these climate-change-induced hazards. Chapter 13 profiles natural and man-made hazards that are common in the MPO area; presents estimates of the level of exposure and vulnerability of various components of the transportation system; describes a scenario-based planning exercise to integrate hazard mitigation into collaborative land-use and transportation planning; identifies various mitigation strategies to reduce the vulnerability of the transportation system; and suggests and incorporates a new set of goals and objectives into the LRTP.

Miami-Dade County, Florida’s GreenPrint is a five-year action plan that outlines the County's sustainability goals and achievements. The plan includes strategies to create a new generation of green leaders, use less water and energy, maintain the environment, use land wisely and provide more transportation options, create green jobs, and support healthy communities. A Climate Change Action Plan with adaptation and mitigation goals is built into the larger sustainability document - recognizing the uniquely high risks from climate change in the region.

Oregon's Climate Change Adaptation Framework is the result of a collaborative effort between Oregon's state agencies with support from the Oregon Climate Change Research Institute. This report provides a framework for the continued development of strategies and plans to address future climate conditions in the state. Priority climate risks and their respective impacts on key sectors are outlined, followed by over 100 adaptation strategies for near- and long-term planning and implementation.
This framework identifies 11 key risks that are likely to occur.

The “2060 Florida Transportation Plan” provides transportation planning guidance for the state, and includes emergency preparedness and resilience planning in its long-range objectives. The Plan, developed by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), sets high-level transportation objectives for the state, and offers implementation strategies to meet those objectives.

Executive Order 24 signed by Governor Patterson in August 2009 created the New York Climate Action Council and charged it with creating a Climate Action Plan. This 428 page Interim Report was released in November 2010, indicating the teams are still moving forward on the final plan. Chapter 11 covers the work effort of the Adaptation Technical Working Groups in 8 sectors: Agriculture, Coastal Zones, Ecosystems, Energy, Public Health, Transportation, Telecommunications and Information Infrastructure, and Water.

This report presents climate adaptation strategies for San Luis Obispo County (SLO) with a focus on increasing the resilience of both human and natural communities. The report reflects the collective efforts of many people in SLO, including elected leaders, county planners, land managers, public health officials, concerned citizens, and others who attended four workshops in 2009 - 2010. These meetings were held to discuss the threat of climate change to the community and establish some initial strategies to reduce vulnerability.
