On April 20, 2007 Governor Martin O'Malley signed Executive Order 01.01.2007.07, establishing the Maryland Commission on Climate Change. The Commission created four Adaptation and Response Working Groups to develop the adaptation portions of the state's Climate Action Plan. With a focus on sea-level rise and coastal storms, the four groups were: Existing and Future Built Environment and Infrastructure; Financial and Economic; Human Health, Safety and Welfare; and Natural Resources.

This Climate Change Action Plan was developed by the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector in the state, and to adapt the state’s transportation infrastructure to the effects of climate change.

This report summarizes analysis and actions that address New York City's drinking water delivery, storm water management, and waste water treatment systems. It presents the steps that the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has taken over the last four years (2004-2008) to address climate change, including efforts to assess the impacts of climate change on NYC's water systems, and identifies opportunities for meaningful changes to water management. The report includes the findings and recommendations to date of DEP's Climate Change Program and Task Force and the immediate actions that the DEP has committed to undertaking to manage climate impacts.

The Toronto City Council unanimously approved a comprehensive strategy to respond to climate change, known as the "Climate Change, Clean Air and Sustainable Energy Action Plan" in 2007. The development and establishment of a climate change adaptation strategy is one of the actions contained in the Plan. As such, this report provides a framework designed to help members of the public and other stakeholders engage in the process of formulating and implementing a climate change adaptation strategy for Toronto.

The Maryland Commission on Climate Change's Interim Report includes timetables and benchmarks for reducing Maryland’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and preliminary recommendations for legislation and executive actions. It also includes general support for legislative or other actions on adaptation and mitigation initiatives. The Report contains a list of approximately 50 priority policy options the Commission has chosen for more detailed analysis.

ClimateLA is an implementation program for action items discussed in the GreenLA plan released by the City of Los Angeles in May 2007. In May 2007, the City of Los Angeles, California published “Green LA: An Action Plan to Lead the Nation in Fighting Global Warming,” which included more than fifty specific climate mitigation actions designed to reduce the City’s contributions to climate change, and to prepare a response to the changes that have already begun to occur.

The City of Chicago Climate Task Force developed this Climate Action Plan to address both mitigation and adaptation. The brief adaptation section of the plan discusses nine strategies including: heat management, innovative cooling, protect air quality, manage stormwater, implement green urban design, preserve plants and trees, engage the public, engage businesses, and plan for the future.

The Climate Action Plan for the City of Homer, Alaska explains the measures the city has adopted to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The adaptation section focuses on strengthening the local economy, encouraging sustainable businesses, anticipating population increases due to migration, preparing for sea-level rise, and developing an emergency preparedness plan. The report also contains information on implementation of the plan. .
