This US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) funding program is designed to help states reduce nonpoint source pollution (pollution caused by rainfall running over the ground and carrying pollutants including trash, oil and grease, and fertilizers into nearby waterways). The program was authorized by Section 319 of the Clean Water Act which requires states to adopt a nonpoint source management program and assess nonpoint source pollution responsible for the water quality impairments. EPA provides funding to states under Section 319, and states can subgrants to local governments. EPA’s program guidance recognizes the “importance of green infrastructure … in managing stormwater” and supported awarding funding to green infrastructure projects.

This Framework is designed to support American Indian and Alaska Native tribes in developing tribal climate change adaptation plans, or incorporating climate change adaptation strategies into existing tribal plans and initiatives, such as strategic plans or natural resource management plans. As a joint initiative between the U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) and NASA, the Landsat Project provides repetitive acquisition of high resolution multispectral data of the Earth's surface on a global basis. The data from the Landsat spacecraft constitute the longest record of the Earth's continental surfaces as seen from space. Today's use of Landsat data has evolved, becoming not only a fundamental data source for addressing basic science questions but also has come into its own as a valuable resource for decision makers in such diverse fields such as agriculture, forestry, land use, water resources and natural resource exploration.

The Broward County Climate Change Element contains policies that are an extension of the 126 recommendations detailed in “Broward’s Climate Change Action Plan - Addressing our Changing Climate,” as developed by the Broward County Climate Change Task Force in 2010. On February 7, 2013, 35 federal agencies released their third annual Strategic Sustainability Performance Plans (SSPPs), which for the first time included Climate Change Adaptation Plans to help federal agencies reach sustainability and climate change resilience goals. President Obama signed Executive Order 13514 on October 5, 2009, which required each agency to issue an SSPP, set new sustainability standards for federal agency operations and directed agencies to improve their environmental, energy and economic performance.
