Created by the Louisiana-Mississippi Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Working Group of the Executive Office of the President, under President Obama, this strategy document, or "roadmap," provides guidance to Working Group members to address policy, process, and legal hurdles to coastal restoration in the region. It outlines specific actions to take place over 18 months in 2010 and part of 2011 for these participating agencies. It also lays the foundation for a long-term vision to be achieved jointly with the states in the region.

In March 2010, the North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission's (CRC's) Science Panel on Coastal Hazards released this report estimating the extent of land on the North Carolina coast that will be covered by sea-level rise over this century. After explaining how sea-level rise can be assessed and measured, the report provides estimates for sea-level rise through the years 2025, 2050, 2075 and 2100. It concludes with recommendations to make improvements in sea-level monitoring as a first step to adaptation planning.

Because land protection decisions are long-term, hard to reverse, and resource intensive, these decisions are important to consider in the context of climate change. Climate change may directly affect the services intended for protection and parcel selection can exacerbate or ameliorate certain impacts. Therefore, when considering long-term acquisition strategies, land protection programs should be considering both the mitigation potential of land through carbon sequestration and the adaptation potential of the land for preserving wildlife migration routes, protecting water sources, and buffering infrastructure and development from storm events.

The Hayward Area Shoreline Planning Agency (HASPA) had a preliminary study conducted on the impact of sea-level rise on the resources of the Hayward shoreline, and the actions that could be taken to protect both the wetlands and shoreline development in this area of the San Francisco Bay, California. Â Planning of the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service addressed the projected change in sea-level within the HASPA planning area to the south of Highway 92.

In this project the Piscataqua Region Estuaries Partnership (PREP) performed a vulnerability assessment of the hydrology and drainage system of the Oyster River watershed in southeastern New Hampshire and its capacity to adapt to climate change impacts and increased development. The project used a geographic information system (GIS) based watershed model to identify the road/stream crossing culverts that are vulnerable to failure due to extreme storms with increased precipitation, in combination with development of the watershed.

This report presents analysis and recommendations for creating a National Adaptation Program in the U. S. federal government, including a suggested organizational structure and key federal roles. The recommended program has three major components: an Adaptation Strategic Planning Initiative, a National Climate Service, and an Adaptation Research Program.

This white paper is a summary of the public health effects that can be expected due to climate change impacts in Thurston County, Washington. It is intended to build an understanding of, and capacity to plan for, the public health consequences of climate change within the county's health department. Findings are based on a review of literature, websites, and conversations with local researchers conducted in September, 2009, as one of the early steps in carrying out a grant award from the National Association of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO).

This Action Plan describes how the Initiative was to be executed from 2010 through 2014, building on the Great Lakes Regional Collaboration Strategy (GLRC Strategy), which provided the framework for the Action Plan.
