Synthesis and Assessment Product (SAP) 4.6: Analysis of the Effects of Global Change on Human Health and Welfare and Human Systems
This report is one in a series of 21 Synthesis and Assessment Products (SAPs) produced between 2004 and 2009, aimed at providing current assessments of climate change science in the U.S. to inform public debate, policy, and operational decisions. This SAP focuses on impacts of global climate change on human health, human settlements, and human welfare. The assessment examines potential impacts of climate change on human society, opportunities for adaptation, and associated recommendations for addressing data gaps and near- and long-term research goals. This report focuses on the vulnerability of human society and estimating risks or opportunities associated with possible impacts of climate change rather than estimating (quantitatively) the impacts themselves.
