NOAA's Coastal Zone Enhancement Program (CFDA Number: 11. 419) provides formula grants to state and territorial coastal zone management programs to help jurisdictions enhance and improve the management of coastal resources in nine "enhancement areas" (defined below). Funds are provided directly to states that can use those grants to assess their coastal management programs and identify opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of their programs. Grants are used to develop legal and policy changes and cannot be used for capital projects.

From the Convention on Biological Diversity, this database provides a web-based tool for guidance on the integration of biodiversity within adaptation planning. The website includes vulnerability studies, threat studies, assessment tools, case studies, and monitoring tools related to adaptation planning for ecosystems. A table of adaptation options is provided that applies a ranking system of "adverse" to "neutral" to "positive" in terms of the impact of adaptation activities on ecosystems and the services they provide.

The Washington Department of Ecology developed a central clearinghouse to store resources with scientific and technical information related to the impacts of climate change on different sectors in Washington. Resources in the clearinghouse are generally organized by the same sectors within the statewide adaptation plan, the '2012 Washington State Integrated Climate Change Response Strategy' (which also is reviewed in this Clearinghouse). Efforts to maintain and expand the clearinghouse help address several recommendations made in the 2012 Strategy.

The Coastal Atlas is an online mapping and planning tool that allows state and local decision-makers to visually analyze and explore data for coastal and ocean planning activities. The site provides shoreline mapping data for shoreline and flood planning in Maryland. The maps are based on erosion, storm inundation and sea level rise data developed from fifty years of observations, and display future shoreline positions up to fifty years in the future. The data available through the Coastal Atlas includes physical characteristics, human uses and ecological resources.

Global Change Biology (GCB) publishes research related to the interface between all aspects of current environmental change and biological systems, including rising tropospheric GHG concentrations, climate change, loss of biodiversity, and eutrophication. Studies may be experimental, observational or theoretical, and may concern aquatic or terrestrial and managed or natural environments. GCB concentrates on primary research articles, but operates a flexible policy regarding other submissions, which include Technical Papers, Mini-Reviews and Opinion Articles.
