Miami-Dade County Climate Change Advisory Task Force – Initial Recommendations

April 2008

In July, 2006, the Board of County Commissioners established the Miami-Dade County Climate Change Advisory Task Force (CCATF), through the adoption of Ordinance 06-113 sponsored. The CCATF served as an advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners and was charged with identifying potential future climate change impacts to Miami-Dade County, while providing recommendations regarding mitigation and adaptation measures to respond to climate change.

Alaska Climate Impact Assessment Commission 2008 Final Report

March 17, 2008

In May 2006, the Alaska Legislature adopted House Concurrent Resolution 30, creating an Alaska Climate Impact Commission. The Commission was charged with assessing the impacts and costs of climate change to Alaska and developing recommendations for preventative measures potentially implemented by Alaskan communities and governments. The eleven-member commission released their final report in March 2008

Hotter and Drier: The West's Changed Climate

March 2008

Comparing average temperatures in the last five years to 20th century averages, the West has experienced 70 percent more warming than the world as a whole. This report assesses impacts the West faces with rising temperatures and changes in precipitation levels and patterns. Chapters 6 and 7 provide an overview of mitigation actions to date (2008) and makes high-level recommendations for policymakers. Appendix A provides a 100-year analysis of warming for each of the 11 states in the West (1908-2007).

Preparing the Pacific Northwest for Climate Change

This report presents an integrated framework for preparing natural, built, human and economic systems for climate change in the Pacific Northwest. This framework is intended to assist climate preparation efforts by public agencies, non-profits, and private companies throughout the Pacific Northwest. The report contains an integrated approach to climate change adaptation planning between each sector to enhance the benefits of climate adaptation across sectors. Sectors include: natural systems (biodiversity and ecosystems), built systems (transportation, water and energy infrastructure), human systems (public health, emergency management, and social services), and economic systems (forestry, agriculture, high-tech).

A Sustainable Path: Meeting Nevada's Water and Energy Demands

2008

In this report, Western Resource Advocates (WRA) assess future water demands for municipal water use, agricultural water use, and water use in electricity generation for Nevada. Under several scenarios, the water demands in each sector are projected for 2015 and 2030. The scenarios developed include alternate scenarios that demonstrate the positive impact of water use efficiency, energy efficiency, and renewable sources of energy.

The San Diego Foundation Regional Focus 2050 Study: Climate Change Related Impacts in the San Diego Region by 2050

2008

This study addresses climate change related impacts in the San Diego region projected to occur by 2050. It was prepared for inclusion in the 2008 Climate Change Impacts Assessment Second Biennial Science Report to the California Climate Action Team. Focusing on interrelated issues of climate change, sea‐level rise, population growth, land use, water, energy, public health, wildfires, biodiversity, and habitat, the report looks at the potential impacts by 2050, both quantitatively and qualitatively.
