Alaska's Climate Change Strategy: Addressing Impacts in Alaska

Pennsylvania Final Climate Change Action Plan

December 18, 2009

From Pennsylvania's Climate Change Action Committee, this plan identifies 52 specific recommendations for Pennsylvania and the federal government to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Actions taken by the state to address climate mitigation as of 2009 are detailed. The plan's chapters are organized by sector including: electricity generation, transmission & distribution; residential and commercial; land use and transportation; industry; waste; agriculture; forestry; and macroeconomic assessment.

California 2009 Climate Adaptation Strategy

The state of California produced this cross-agency, multi-sector strategy in late 2009, to help guide California's efforts in adapting to climate change impacts. The California Climate Adaptation Strategy, directed by Executive Order S-13-08, was developed by five state agencies and nine departments to plan for sea-level rise and other impacts.

Better-Defined Rights and Responsibilities in Marine Adaptation Policy

December 2009

This issue brief discusses key elements of marine environment adaptation policy, including rights, resources, and governance. The brief recommends establishing better-defined rights and responsibilities for commercial and recreational fisheries in order to create an adaptation portfolio for marine and coastal resources. In addition, the report suggests establishing a broader ocean governance framework that includes comprehensive planning, allocation of dominant use zones and user rights within zones, and ecological standards.

Interim Federal Action Plan for the California Bay-Delta

This Interim Federal Action Plan has been developed to further the goals of the California Bay-Delta Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) entered into by six federal agencies on September 29, 2009. The MOU sets out the Obama Administration's vision of a healthy and sustainable Bay-Delta ecosystem that "provides for a high-quality, reliable, and sustainable long-term water supply for California, and restores the environmental integrity and sustainability of the Bay-Delta ecosystem."

This publication assembles six of these studies, with a focus on water resources in New Mexico; forests in Tennessee, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming; infrastructure in Alaska; and coastlines in Florida, North Carolina and Texas.

Massachusetts Climate Change Adaptation Advisory Committee: Potential Strategies

This set of subcommittee briefings to the Massachusetts Climate Change Adaptation Advisory Committee provides potential adaptation strategies for coastal zones and oceans, human health and welfare (including water quality), key infrastructure, local economy and government, natural resources and habitat, and land use. Health Problems Heat Up: Climate Change and the Public's Health

This report, from Trust for America's Health (TFAH), examines the human health effects of climate change and the role public health authorities must play in preventing and preparing for further climate-related damage. It also explores the needs of state and local health departments as they set out to conduct climate change needs assessments and provides a framework to develop strategic plans to prevent and prepare for climate change. TFAH makes policy recommendations pertaining to increased action from federal, state, and local governments.
