In July, 2009, an Interagency Climate Adaptation Team (ICAT) began to explore the potential effects of climate change in Minnesota, and to develop an adaptation plan for the state. This high-level report, the first work product of the team, synthesizes how climate change may affect Minnesota. The report includes an inventory of past, current and proposed state agency adaptation actions for key sectors including: agriculture, energy, health, natural resources, water and transportation.

Developed by the Broward County Climate Change Task Force, the Climate Change Action Plan is a set of 126 recommended short, medium and long-term actions, that combined, form a coordinated countywide strategy for both mitigating and adapting to climate change. The recommendations include information on planning horizon, status of action, likely responsible County entity, potential community partners, estimated resources required, and recommended performance measures.

In February 2009, President Obama proposed $475 million for a Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. This Action Plan describes how the Initiative was to be executed from 2010 through 2014, building on the Great Lakes Regional Collaboration Strategy (GLRC Strategy), which provided the framework for the Action Plan.

In this report called for by the Maine Legislature, the state puts forth options for responding to the impacts of climate change. The plan relies on the 2009 impact assessment report entitled Maine’s Climate Future: An Initial Assessment developed by the University of Maine. The Department of Environmental Protection developed this plan through a stakeholder-based process to evaluate options and actions available to state businesses and people to prepare for “the most likely” impacts of climate change.

The Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) 2010 Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) is hosted on a comprehensive website which includes other information regarding local hazard mitigation planning; interactive maps showing areas at risk due to events such as flooding, wildfire, and landslides; and strategic priorities and actions submitted by individual agencies participating in the Mitigation Plan. The plan itself identifies natural hazards with the greatest impact to the San Francisco Bay Area of California including climate change, flooding, landslides, wildfires and drought.

The Adaptation Advisory Group (AAG) to the Alaska Climate Change Sub-Cabinet created this adaptation response plan as part of Alaska's overall climate change strategy, which also addresses mitigation and research needs, and includes a special Immediate Action Workgroup report. The City of Phoenix Tree and Shade Master Plan addresses urban forestry and the value of trees in Phoenix, Arizona. The urban forest, as described in the plan, is essential to creating a sustainable city because it solves many problems with one single solution. By investing in trees and the urban forest, the city can reduce its carbon footprint, decrease energy costs, reduce stormwater runoff, increase biodiversity, address the urban heat island effect, clean the air, and increase property values.

The state of California produced this cross-agency, multi-sector strategy in late 2009, to help guide California's efforts in adapting to climate change impacts. The California Climate Adaptation Strategy, directed by Executive Order S-13-08, was developed by five state agencies and nine departments to plan for sea-level rise and other impacts.
